Hi Prince :)

Just a thought on something that happened to me a while ago, I had a surge went through one of my computers. Now someone will correct me if I am wrong but from experience it told me that a surge generally causes one of two problems, sometimes rarely both together.

A surge will generally either damage a motherboard or a power pack.

I put my computer in a local shop and they quoted me a high price to, knowing what I knew I argued the facts and then took the computer elsewhere, turned out it was the power pack in the end and the bill was almost a third of the original quote to

Prince of Dreams Report 26 Nov 2007 18:15

colin he tells me that i will still have original 250gigs for storage purposes but that he is adding a further 80 gigs. it all means nothing to me. do you suspect that i am being done over ?

Hi Prince :):)

Its hard to know really from here without looking at a computer, I can only say that a surge is more then likely to cause the damage I mentioned and I I thought the person fixing may have mentioned this in the first instance. Did they mention this at all or go for the straight Oh we will need to do a hard drive and all other bits they want to add a long the way.

What sort of use do you use the computer for, 250 gig is a fair amount of hardrive and unless you use the computer for lots of different things an 80 gig upgrade also makes me question why they would want to add additional.

colin he said at start that hard drive could be damaged but hopefully not. he took it way the phoned to say that start up was knackered nad drive also. he then asked why i had such a large memory and did i really need it then waffled on about the mother board and said he would make existing the e drive and add 80 gigs for ongoing use.latest was he was struggling with graphics card and that he was replacing windows media with windows xp home edition and adding word for me. it was supposedly being ready at 4 and i am still waiting lol does any of that make sense ?
