Positive thoughts and prayers for my sister Rosemary please. She goes in to Haslar hospital Gosport tomorrow to have a lump and a couple of lymph glands removed. She has breast cancer. Rosemary has just phoned, she has had the op and all went well. She now has to wait two weeks before they can tell if the cancer has spread but they are very hopeful that it has not. Then she has t have radiotherapy after two months. Many thanks from Rosemary for all your thoughts, she says it helped her get through the ordeal. Many thanks Ann Glos

Hi Ann, Yes im ex Navy, hubby is serving member and he had to have an op there about 6 yrs ago, the staff are wonderful, the worse thing was the drive from our (old) house to it!! Put it this way Ann if the abulance had taken him there and not where they did he would have been operated on earlier!! Debs x

Debs My husband also is ex Navy and was in there in about 1962 with a collapsed lung. My father is also ex Navy and had the utmost faith in the place. My Mother has a major op there at the age of 81, and 4 years later she actually died there (unrelated to the op) as it was their Emergency hospital. My Dad also spent some time in there in the late 90s. As you say the staff are wonderful (it is tri service now, did you know), the buildings are old of course but she is definitely going to the right place. Incidentally, if you read, have you read the Lilian Harry books 'A Girl Called Thursday', and 'A Promise to Keep'? both set in Haslar in the war. Ann Glos
