Ann, Your right it was tri service when hubby went in, they were shocked that the hospital in Cosham!!! Never realised what was wrong - despite hubby couldnt walk and the bottom part of his leg went out to the side from the knee downwards!! Yes I have read a couple of hers, but I havent seen any here! I remember one about a little girl being evacuted to the country (sure it was out past Southwick way - I worked at Dryad at the time of reading it hence remembering!) and her family living in Portsmouth which to her was such a long way away!!!! i send a hug to rosemary and wish her all the best with treatment, my friend in works just had this op, and is starting radiotheraphy soon, she said the staff were all brilliant, and shes feeling real positive, take care rosemary, i send my best wishes to you and healing thoughts

debs, shame you can't get them there. i have read most of them, yes it was Southwick she was evacuated to. Were you in the wrens then? Or civie working at dryad? Ann Glos

Ann, I did a couple of yrs in the wrens (sea going not shore based as that changed just before I joined). Then after the children were born I went to work as a civvy there and stayed for 4 yrs (did do my training there when I was serving so it was an ideal job ) and I only lived up the road. Debs x Think we might end up back in Pompey when we leave here..

Debs, I was a civvy at Cambridge barracks before I got married, but I lived in Fareham. How long do you have to do in the States? i assume hubby is working there as a civvy? Ann Glos

Ann, No he is still in the Navy.. we come back in 2007. I like Fareham we used to cross on the ferry for a night out! I like the other villages too.. have some good family pubs Debs x
