Abs?l?m, he's on the censuses as AbsAlAm, AbsOlOm, AbsAlEm and then he becomes Charles when his boy marries! I had one girl I thought was H Corance, turned out she was Florance, and badly written in the census.

Forgot to mention my French great grandfather, whom I have not been able to trace back further than 1861 yet, is called William Henry.........but, by all accounts and according to my father who was very insistant on it, his name was really Napoleon. Lin xx

Two female Welmouth/Wilmuth/Wilmotts (depending on who was doing the spelling. One male Sigebert/Sitabird(!!!). Goodness knows where those names came from.

Cecil - 2 of them both ladies! Sibbra, Sebbra, Zipporah, Zipnoah, Zippah - two ladies spelled with any letters the clerk could put together in the censuses! (I think Zipporah is correct, I believe it's biblical!) Linda
