Can anyone remember Harlequins, in a box like Roses and Quality Street, they were chocolates with cream centres, strawberry/orange/vanilla/coffee and my favourite, lime. Also Cadburys used to do a bar of chocolate with roses flavours in the seperate squares. toffee barrel/strawberry others and I remember a lime one there, but it didn't last long. And the other things I remember were Showboats. bought individually. they were chocolate cups, oval or square, with sponge in the bottom, and a topping of yellow or pink butter icing with a sugar sweet on...they were covered with cellophane...

OOHHHHHHHH Fry's Chocolate Cream I'd forgotten that one - I remember as a child thinking that it was really sophisticated as more adults seemed to eat it than Kids !

I loved liquorice wood - looked like bits of old twig and you just chewed on it to get the flavour out then threw it away when all the flavour had gone. Stella

Anne

Anne Report 6 Jul 2006 15:00

During the war (yes I am ancient) my Mum made us some sherbert. It was lovely, fizzed. Being a nosey child, I watched her, so a few days later made some more - Andrews Liver salts mixed with suger. Sadly, I got the ratio wromg, and my litle bruv got the 'trots' Well, these things were rationed, so anything was a 'treat' Anne

Frys seem to have made a lot of good chocoalte bars, I liked the five boys one Linda mentions as well Gillian, yes I am sure they had numbers on the wrappers, and I am sure you could only ever get them loose ;-))

YvetteDD Report 7 Jul 2006 00:03

nanna, i only remember jamboree bags from when my nanny used to buy them for us. must have been in about 1965-6. she would come to visit and bring us those.. I didn't see her after january 1967 as we moved away. she passed away in the eary 70's. this is part of one of those childhood memories that stay with you (hopefully always). i'm so glad i could remember the name.
