OOh Kitty your Brave I cant do contacts....I hve this natural reaction as I try to poke something in my eye to close it!!!

Takes me about 45 Mins to put them in and by then I have lost the will to live so dont bother.

Astigmatism meant I was prescribed glasses at 5 years old. Used soft contacts for a few years but infection in one eye scared me off them and now I think the time has arrived for .................

After two days of vision being WORSE after putting lenses in, I finally twigged that I had somehow mixed up my lenses. Right lens in left eye and vice versa - stoopid girl.

I tried the varifocal contacts once...............never again, put them in and felt drunk *shudders at the memory*

Now I wake up, put my specs on and there they stay....................until bedtime.

*looks at dents in the side of my poor nose*

I had glasses from 9, I was soooo short sighted! I got contacts at 30, and needed them all the time. At 65 I had cataract op om both eyes, and now my sight is good, other than needing reading glasses for small print or very close work.

I can heartily recommend the cataract ops

I do for distance stuff, can't see a thing close up with them on though so they spend half the day on top of my head.

I wear them, -I'm shortsighted.

They help me to 'hear' better too. In day to day conversation indoors, I'll put them on if someone is talking to me.(I haven't got perfect hearing)
My daughters think this is crazy but when we mentioned this to the optician recently she said I'm not alone.

Anybody else find this?

Glasses for me since age 45 so not done too badly. Realised I needed them one night when I was in alone and couldnt read the cooking instructions on the frozen fish...I ended up propping the packet up on the radiator and using binoculars from the other side of the room...it worked but I felt a right plonker!
