Decided to have Gammon on Boxing day - only three of us - but having a trial run tomorrow - hubby eats only plain English food, me and Derek, bit more daring - what can I serve with it that is English but different. PLEASE. XX.

We usually have gammon, mash and cauliflower with parsley sauce.

Nice with a parsley sauce, boiled potatoes, carrots and peas.

Also pleasant cooked with a coating of honey and wholegrain mustard then served with a pineapple slice plus any veg you like. I enjoy broccoli.

When I was a kid my parents did gammon with buttery mashed potatoes some side salad and pickles. That's nice too.

We normally have Gammon, Pineapple for those who want it , we have a salad with ours, chips for those who want it, new boiled potatoes also for a choice..
Pickles, Garlic mushrooms on side bowls, Cheesy Garlic bread on the side

nicely done poached eggs are good on gammon as well OR you could have pineapple AND poached eggs - the honey and mustard sounds nice though - if it's got a skin on it people cut a diamond pattern all over it and stick cloves in the spaces in between then cover in honey and mustard and roast - looks pretty spectacular - in my cookery book that is!!

I usually serve it with new pots, baton carrots, green peas and broccoli - yes pineapple is also yummy - but was looking for something different, what about spinach, I have never tasted it, but apparently, broc, sprouts and spinach are the three best veg's for our health.

Spinach is very good.......in my house we prefer it in a white sauce and stirred in it so it is creamed spinach. Nice mild flavour.

I find cooking my gammon it tastes best if I soak it overnight then discard that water. I then boil it with some sliced carrot, celery, few herbs and pepper corns.
When it is just about cooked I drain it and coat it with the mustard and honey and bake it till golden.

We like it with a mix of roasted vegetables too.

If you are talking about a gammon joint, I usually do that with cauliflower and broccoli cheese, peas, baby carrots and jacket or new potatoes.

Gammon steak....well, I still like pineapple with mine, but how about a nice mushroom sauce, with veg and new pots.

hot creamy mash,parsely sauce or even a bread sauce will go,cauli cheese and a veg...if liked,,,broad beans/peas/carrots or a mixed veg,,,,,,,,,and crusty bread,,,,,,

You will not believe this, but hubby will not eat cheese or sauce - so maybe I was thinking, may sound ugh! Gammon, new pots, carrots broccoli and beetroot. different.

Serve on a oval Steak plate.

On one end, a salad garnish. Shread lettuce and place wedges of tomatoes, sliced cucumber and
Red Onion then sprinkle salad cress , or what ever.

Homemade chips to the back of the plate, then place the Gammon in front of the chips. Top the Gammon with deep fried onion rings, mushrooms and grilled Pineapple slice. Grill the pineapple for the last 5 minutes of grilling the Gammon. spoon the juices from the Gammon over the Pineapple.
Place a fried egg at the front of the plate and put a few spoonfulls of cooked peas over the egg white.

Mmmm gammon with crispy roast patatoes, Parnips and carrots roasted in honey, and mashed sweed, gravy.

Sounds lush, but we are healthy eating freaks - oops! sorry, but I could poach the egs, have oven chips, and have steamed onions-although hubby eats no onions, but like the flavour, stange man you know. XX.
