My OH got his 2 weeks ago and I received notification of mine this week. Never been offered the £10 Xmas bonus though. A neighbour has just had her first free TV licence she is now 75. She is really pleased as although the goverment said free Tv licences for pensioners you can't get one until 75. She rechons they save a hell of a lot of money that way as loads of people die before then.Sad thing is she has started to lose her eyesight. |

My mum has friends who are in late 60's early 70's and they split everything. One pays electric the other pays gas. They keep their own money to themselves. They're quite amusing really. But I've never understood it, my parents share everything and don't even have separate accounts (mainly coz my dad has no interest in dealing with the money as long as he has a couple of quid in his pocket - mum takes care of managing the bills etc). |

is everyone aware that pensioners who choose to live abroad - and where do they go? - warm climates - still qualify for the heating allowance? I know of someone who lives in Tenerife who doesn't own a fire or have a fireplace and they get it!! |

If you were 60 or over on or before 23 September 2007 then you should qualify for a winter fuel payment of £200. Payments will be made throughout November and December. If by Christmas you havent received your payment contact the benefit office that normally pays your benefit or state pension, alternatively contact the Winter Fuel Helpline on 0845 915 15 15 (8.30-16.30 Mon-Fri). |

Thanks for the input everyone, my pension is paid into the bank and there was an extra payment of £200 but I haven't had any notification of it, it was just there, so I assumed it was the fuel payment. Just surprised it is paid out so early but will be very useful so am not complaining! Being an oap has its benefits lol |

Think my dad got 150 or something like that last year, didn't even cover the gas bill never mind the electric (our heating is half and half) and I agree cost of fuel has gone up so much. Our electric arrived today and is £100, and we've only had the heat on for the last 4 weeks or so. |
