	When I told my dad he had some ancestors and distant relatives named Whalley, Dad once told me that my uncle was courting a girl named Whalley in his youth, but it never went anywhere as they believed there was a family connection. Up to his generation, my dad's ancestors go back approximately 150-200 years in the Ormskirk area and I've also discovered that not only was one of my ancestors born a Whalley but at two separate points various distant relatives also married spouses named Whalley. Perhaps it's just as well they don't live in the same area anymore. I was boggled to discovered that - even if they hadn't been married - my paternal grandparents would have been distantly related by marriage, and two of my gran's great-uncles managed to marry sisters as well. Sometimes I feel like shouting, "Stop it!"
