(¯`*•.¸Scousenana.•*´¯) Report 19 Oct 2007 15:34

I have just received an EMail from GR informing me that they have had several complaints about my "jokes"
I do realise that this is a family site, and i did put in the title "adult content"
I apologise to anyone i have offended, that was not my intention.
I won't be posting again. it seems that in trying to give someone a bit of a giggle i have upset people.
Big Brother is alive and well and living on GR.
Once again, please accept my aoplogies

Jean - they all have the option of not reading!! - praps they are reading in the hope they can find something to complain about.
And this is an adult site and this the general board, not neccessarily just for geneaology (sp) subjects.
l get embarrassed at jokes - mainly cause l don't always get them - so l don't read um - simple.

Take care and don't go:o))))

I'm getting pig sick of this site. It is becoming so restrictive and gagging. Anyone who dares to lead a happy life or try to instill some happiness and a bit of a laugh is promptly shot down in flames. Lynn the other day, and now you.

Why can't the sour faced miserable depressives go somewhere else and let the rest of the people be happy together.

I have also been got at over jokes, It is getting daft now,
Fair enough some people might not like certain jokes but no-one forces them to read them, That is their choice if they do or not.
So I agree with you Dianne.

Wasn't aware there was a problem with jokes but each to their own I would have thought.
I suppose it's possible that children could read over mum's shoulder so perhaps it's best to keep the content "cleanish" although the average youngster could probably tell even worse ones!
The only time I dislike jokes is when they are emailed to me as an attachment - I delete them unread every time!

ஐ+*¨^¨*+e+*¨^¨*+ஐ Mildred Honkinbottom Report 19 Oct 2007 18:35

This is only my thoughts on the current trend of posting these jokes, not a ploy as mentioned recently to "Get at" the poster

Sorry but I cant say I'm surprised this has happened

And no it wasn't me who complained to abuse either but I suspect it may have been quite a few who were probably scared to publicly say their peice on the thread/s in question after witnessing the abusive slaying of those who did earlier on in the week..

What crude jokes your 16 year old may love, or your 82 year old granny may chuckle at, may not reflect the morals of the whole of the GR community so some will be offended when they have decided to join a chatty forum on a genealogy site.

Just because its a board where you can discuss subjects other than Genealogy. it doesnt mean members can post anything they wish to, regardless of the feelings of others.

And as the claim that GR has become restrictive and gagging, the rules are certainly no different to what they were in the past.

Anything offensive was removed and I'm telling you Ive had tamer jokes removed in comparison to those posted of late and left with a warning from gr as well.

It only appears more restrictive now because of a higher amount of people of late posting material best suited to adult humour orientated sites such as Facebook.

Ill not be surprised to receive a backlash from this post, or at very least hear the words "no sense of humour" or "Dont like dont read" which is an insult really for those who obviously have been offended enough to mail Gr.

Joy Report 19 Oct 2007 19:16

There could be hundreds, or more, non-paying members of GR that report what is offensive to them; they are entitled to do so, just as much as paying members; so it is nice to see your apology to whoever found them offensive, and I hope it is appreciated by them.
