I haven't been on here for a while because I have been so busy with a family party for my Grandaughters 21st Birthday party celebrations... she is special needs. We have all been looking forward to this so much, for her and her Mum and Dad, and everyone who knows Lisa loves her to bits... she may be brain damaged (through meningacochal Meningitis and septisemia as a baby) but she has the voice of an angel and has made grown men cry with her rendition of "Somewhere over the rainbow"...

This apart, we had a most fantastic night last night and all who came brought her many wonderful gifts of cards, with money and vouchers, teddys, a diamond bracelet etc...

THESE WERE THEN STOLEN... every single thing she had been given was taken at the end of a wonderful night... the bag with everything in was left and the staff locked the venue...this morning we went there and it was nowhere to be found... we know it was left in the building...

"Things" can be replaced eventually... but my Grandaughter can not understand why this vile person has stolen her "Special Night"......

Davids right ,let the local radio know what has happened. It's a disgrace because whoever took them didnt do it accidently. What about cleaners?could the things have been put somewhere safe?

I'm so so sorry this has happened to your grandaughter on what should have been a special birthday, and hope that whoever did this will either be caught and the gifts returned, or that they will get their come-uppance some other way.

I had my handbag stolen last Wednesday, when lunching with relatives visiting from Canada, so agree with you that these people are VILE and the lowest of the low.

Hugs to you and your grandaughter.

And do fill in a crime report at your local police station just in case anything comes to light...I did it online (Metropolitan Police in my case), and after submitting it they rang me within 24 hours to give me a crime number and take further details.

The police have been informed and we were told that they would get in touch with us if the powers that be thought it important enough to persue. We know the cleaner that is there and my daughter went to see her early this morning.. went through all rubbish skips and the whole building but it was nowhere in sight... ...IT HAS BEEN STOLEN... we cannot accuse anyone but all the evidence points to certain conclusion!!

It has to be a member of staff, surely.

It is awful and heartbreaking, but you need to fight to get the person responsible for such a cruel theft.

David is right, the police, local paper and radio must be told to get maximum publicity to hopefully recover such precious memories of her happy night.

Another idea is to drop posters in all local shops saying what was stolen and asking for them to be returned.......maybe to the local police staion as "lost property"

Don't give out any contact numbers or names on the posters though!

another guest wouldnt have taken it by accident or could it have been left in a car or taxi?
go back to the premises and tell the staff you are going to prosecute.
hope everything turns up but in the meantime kick up a big fuss

All guests were known personally to us and have all been informed by phone... no-one took it by accident and everyone who had such a marvelous night is totally devastated by the news... some are re-sending cards to her so that she has at least something to open...most people put money and vouchers in her cards as she especially wanted a pink televison and new dressing table as she is having her bedroom redone... this is not now possible... of course she cannot understand the value of money, but we can...I am just sick to my stomach over this... I will try and get on later but must go to my daughters for a while...

Thanks for support you are giving..it's good to know I have friends on here....Anne.xxxx

Anne, This despicable. Poor girl, how can anyone be so cruel. i suppose we should be past being shocked these days but I still find these things hard to take. If the building was locked and there was no sign of a break in it sounds like an internal thing.. I would ask the manager of the venue if his insurance will cover the loss for a start. If not the parents' household insurance may cover it. not the same as having the presents but at least she would get her pink TV.

Definitely go to the papers/local radio with a list of items stolen and lay it on about her circumstances.

there really are some low life around aren't there?
