disgusting hand-made outfits always being made to stand at the back row of school photo's cos you were the tallest of the class beating the class bully in chess and having to suffer the consequences of him running behind you on your way home trying to throw horse crap in your hair. the music was TOP I wore me mams shoes at every given opportunity catherine xx |

All the latest gear....cheesecloth dresses, skirts, tops, platform shoes, Mary Quant hairstyles, or like me long hair centre parting and flicks......plait in hair with beads.....we did it before it became fashionable....the music, the fashion, our children all born in the 70's......new house, being in debt, happiness, flower power, sweetness, love......CND sit ins and marches, Marc Bolan and T Rex....Eric Burden and the House o the Rising Sun, Credence Clearwater Revival, Julie Driscoll and the Brian Auger Trinity......the music and the music and the music......brilliant unforgettable days.....pure joy.... |

Four children a baby , an 8 year old, a 12 year old and a 14 year old................! Oh boy the 70's were great fun .....! And all the clothes you talk of were worn by my grls, the musec heard by my girls, and EVERYTHING.... paid for by us!! What fun that was!! Actually I miss those days. I did love being a mummy. The fashions in the mid 60s and early 70's has a much longer shelf life than todays fashions,so people wore a mixture of both,,,,,,but todays fashions,,have been worn before,,,,,,,,,,by the rockers.mods and flower people,,,,,,,, |

An hour long queue to get into the Odeon to see the latest James Bond film. We'd play 'I spy with my little eye' and count the cars going by. And then all the adults smoked inside the cinema (remember making silly hand shapes in the smoky light?) and the kids would cough throughout the film. We'd pass around a big bag of jelly babies or a family box of maltesers. Then in the interval, we'd queue up for a lyons maid orange lolly, a rocket lolly, a ki-ora drink or a choc ice from the lady selling them in the foyer. Absolutely no popcorn!! And the usherette would shush anyone who was noisy! Hmm, I just can't get nostalgic about all that blooming queuing! |
