Dee the Bibliomaniac Report 31 Jul 2007 19:23

I was born in a Victorian terraced house, belonging to my paternal grandparents. Shortly after I was born we moved into a council house on a brand new post war housing estate – homes fit for heroes I guess When I first married in the 70’s we lived in a flat above a shop, and to be perfectly honest it probably should have been condemned, the electrics were certainly dodgy I now live in a house on an estate built in the 1960’s, and have lived here over 30 years. The house was part of a development that probably increased the size of the village by over 500% and the locals took a long time to accept the incomers, who had mostly come from London.. So how many homes have you had?? Dee x

Ely, Cambridgeshire, 4 in Ely itself, 3 in surrounding villages 1 in Hampshire I in London 1 in Somerset 1 in Essex 4 in Norfolk 15 altogether, which means that on average I have moved once every 3.2 years I lived the longest in Essex, nearly 20 years there.

My son is always amazed at how few moves I have made. As a student he moved around a lot and he has had three homes since he met the young lady who is now his wife I would have loved to have had a bungalow by the sea, but am not sure that will ever become reality Dee x

I certainly have, Dee, and when you live in a caravan or tent you certainly know about nature!! We were in Lossiemouth, in a caravan during the winter of '62/'63. The caravan was totally submerged under snow, we had an outside loo and caravan doors and windows open outwards!! LOL Looking back, 10 of the places I lived didn't have a bathroom, let alone an inside toilet. The big caravan had a bathroom, one of the others had a bath (which I used to sleep on - on a board), but no plumbing!! maggie
