its all a matter of perspective, after all outside of Australia KYLIE isn't exactly a common name is it ? I do agree with you though, some people do choose very odd names. What annoys me the most is when someone takes a normal name and spells it slightly differently - the poor child will spend their lives having to tell people how to spell their name

Your friend sounds like someone my husband knew, Colin. His children were Colleen, Collette and Colin. Nothing wrong with the names but all too similar in one family, I think.

I chose Paul and James for my two sons. James got stuck with a nick name which is Ticker. The reason is because when he was born he had a dicky heart. Everybody still calls him that even now and he's nearly 32. Jo.

OMG I MUST be old - I realy dislike the very modern names, imagine Zayne when he's 50 or so. I know a 40yr old Wayne but he uses his nickname of Wal' . We have a family close by with a Susan, Sarah and Samantha, very confusing when the postman comes, they don't have a middle name.

We named our daughter Megan but somehow, I don't know how, I started calling her Penguin. The trouble is she's now three, and until about 6 months ago she thought that was her name!!! It's taken a concerted effort not to call her it anymore.
