I was born in Cheltenham and lived at The Reddings and Churchdown,I've lived in Hampshire for 17 years and still regard Cheltenham as home.I'm hoping we shall return to retire at home, but maybe in Tewkesbury as I've always fancied living there !!!

Hi Ann, all my rellies from Stonehouse, sadly they have all passed now. Used to love sitting in signal box with station master when a kid. Went back last year and the station has become a mass of metal and lost all of its charm.suex

We've just back from the Gloucestershire Family History Society Open Day and spent the rest of the time visiting family.Reading these threads has made me more nostalgic for home, especially Churchdown,my daughters used to have to run up the hill for Cross Country running, while the teachers went up in the car.We always went blackberrying up the hill too.

First married home was in Swindon Village near Cheltenham. I wonder if it is still so quiet there? We used to walk up to the farm to collect fresh eggs. You live in a beautiful county.

Geoff Report 24 Apr 2005 08:28

The ancient town of Chepstow is still in Monmouthshire/Gwent, the River Wye is the boundary. The bits to the east of the river (Sedbury, Tutshill) are not truly Chepstow.

Nice to see this thread resurrected. Rose, very remiss of me, of course you can be an honourary member, and Kerry Chepstow is so close, you too. I used to live in Lydney and oftten shopped in Chepstow. Quite a few with connections to Churchdown i see which is where we are now and have been since 1992. I know there are others in Gloucester as there was another thread on the subject, somebody in the Forest, and Care in Quedgely. Anyone else not come out from behind the settee yet? Ann Glos
