I take everything that the media says about the royal family with a large pinch of salt. One thing I do believe though is that William does not want to be king for a long time, and I can understand why. :) Joy |

if hes said that, im disappointed and mad, he needs to look on here for compassion, weve all got plenty, but for those who deserve it, let me get this straight does he have to work hard and by that i mean like most of the men in this country doing heavy work day in day out, does he have to pay a mortgage and council tax, will he worry where his pensions coming from, does he have an elderly relative who relies on meals on wheels and has just been told the local council are cost cutting so will withdraw this service completely so elderly and disabled have to fend for themselves, NO he doesnt have any of the above, so i dont think he needs or deserves our compassion, his biggest worry at moment is can he still be king and marry camilla, woa big probs charlie, wake up and smell the coffee, is all i can say to him, and go and have a word with himself in a quiet corner snivelling little man |

Can I ask-Why do we need a Royal Family? Why do we need a Queen? Havn't we grown up as a nation and grown beyond this type of society where we are beholden to someone who through accident of birth assumes soveriegnty over all of us. In truth in the past they just had a bigger battle axe.The Royal Family is the longest line of judicial murders in history.THINK ON -Rose |

I can't really be bothered with any of them...the Royals are from a family of mixed blood anyway, Germans , Greeks, French...you name it they got it. If you go back through the ages there was a lot of usurping and murders to get the throne of England....I was once told that the true heir to the throne lives in Australia and is an ordinary married man with a family....wouldn't surprise me either!!! Long live King Bruce the Sheep Farmer...lol Anne. xx |

Thinking about it, I agree with Sarah about going forward, etc. It might help if he acknowledged that he appeared not to show much - if any - compassion to Diana. He must acknowledge that he and his bit on the side (for that is what she was when Diana was alive) were in the wrong. OK, so Diana wasn't a saint, but she didn't deserve that. |

I have no problem with him marrying Camilla, good luck to them both. I was never a fan of his first wife. But I resent the money it will cost us. I resent every penny of my taxes that goes to this family. We don't need them - this is the 21st century. Let them start spending their own cash on housing and transport. If Andrew wants to travel by plane/helicopter to play golf then he should buy his own. Gwynne |

No i haven't seen this Linda, but it is common knowledge that Diana was very much aware of Camilla's prescence in the Abbey on her wedding day. |

I'm not sure it is legal to keep the public out. Don't the doors have to stay open - presumably so someone can object if they think there is an impediment to the marriage? nell |

Pardon me if I'm wrong but Edward V111 had to abdicate to marry a divorcee - what's changed since then? |

Cynical, I know, but do you think that Tony and his cronies thought a Royal Wedding would give us a feel-good factor to take us thro' the election and make us vote for the LP? Judging from all the messages on here, not many are thinking of C & C and their nuptials thro' rose-coloured specs! I have always thought that having a Queen instead of a Dictator was preferable, but her disfunctional family are hardly her ideal backing group!! Dilys |

A man lacking morals and compassion is hardly in a position to complain about the British (alleged) lack of compassion. He says this because we are not prepared to be out there waving flags on the occasion of his taking a step he was not man enough to take years ago. It was revealed that Britain donated a fantastic £300 million to the tsunami appeal- proving that British compassion is alive and well. Bridget x |
