I sincerely hope so, as the last thing we need is another 'redwash'. Ferrari probably couldn't believe that McLaren would get off to such a dreadful start, last season. A season more like the one in 2003 would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed. As long as 'Red Ken' keeps it off the streets of London! CB >|<

I hope so. Papers are saying that Ferrari are not ready (will be using modified old car) and that other teams have made great strides over the winter, so here's hoping. (mind you I think they say that every year and then we get to see the red car roaring off on it's own in the distance!!) Has anyone seen this weeks advert for the Guardian about F1 cover?? Think it would be a great idea, at the pitstops the driver has to get out the car and get spun around 10 times before driving again - would certainly make things more interesting!! Kxx

I am a great fan of Formula 1 and enjoyed watching the Birmingham GP for the few years it lasted. A Question, When are the Tyre companies going to come up with tyres that can last for 200 miles? Surely that is not too much to ask. We have tyres on our cars that can do 20 or 30 THOUSAND miles.

My 6yr old loves the Ferrari he thinks Michael is a good driver and he would be disappointed though won't mind if Ruebens wins

Sally, Somehow the South of France appeals more. Can't think why! LoL CB >|<

Grampa No tyre changes this year methinks.

Think the new regulations mean that the one set of tyres have to last the whole weekend so no tyre changes at the pitstops, just fuel. Also the engines have to last for two races and if fail could mean droping 10 places down the grid at the next race. Kxx

My son and I always used to watch F1 up until a couple of years ago. We gave up watching it purely because it became too predictable as to which team would win. It's about time that the other teams stood a fair chance of winning a race rather than Ferrari getting it every time Sarah, x

I would say so far that with regards changes to the rules and regs, Ferrari have managed to stay one step ahead of their rivals. Would a handicapping system work where the most successfull team gets penalised for the next race (in terms of grid position, or fuel to be carried), or do you agree with Ferrari's opinion that its up to the other teams to make the necessary improvements in order to catch them?

Don't tinker with it - keep the competition going - it's what keeps the sport alive. There's nothing like a difficult struggle to encourage contenders for the top spot. CB >|<

not causing a row and i'll delete if you want but andy do you not think its got incredibly boring now though?? might as well sit a service station and watch cars go by!

Paul, mate, I agree that it has become rather staid. I'd love to see more wheel to wheel stuff at the front end, like in the days before Ferrari took a stranglehold. F1's rulers are in a state of panic because they have to think of the commercial angle, which is why we're seeing kneejerk and sometimes gimicky changes to try and anchor Ferrari. Problem is that Ferrari seem to respond and adapt better to whatever changes are made. I'm just praying that at least a couple of the other teams have and can make sufficient inroads into Ferrari's advantage.

The days I miss most are the Senna/Mansell days. When Mansell got called in a couple of laps from the end of the Monaco GP because they thought he had a puncture and he was all over Senna but just couldn't get past. The best image was of Senna and Mansell wheel to wheel at Barcelona when Mansell got past. 200mph just centimetres apart neither man willing to give an inch to the other - great stuff, was worth watching then. That's why keep watching, ever the optimist - hoping that this year will be different. Kxx

Andy, How about the old type of 'Starting' where the cars were lined up on one side of the track, and the drivers on the other.they then had to run to their cars and race off.Could be Fun. Hal.

Andy

Andy Report 28 Feb 2005 14:43

Hal, now there's an idea, mind you the FIA may go a stage further and suggest that Schumacher has his ankles tied together on the run to his Ferrari, lol.

Merlin

Merlin Report 28 Feb 2005 14:53

A better Idea would be to make them all do like they had to in the 'Le Manns',Drive the car there and then Race it. That would really sort it out. and only one Mechanic. Hal.
