yep, Fisi was definitely the winner on merit but given where team-mate Alonso ended up (3rd from 13th), it looks as if the Renault could be a very good car this season. Whether it will measure up to the Ferrari though is impossible to say at the moment, it's not a GP from which too many conclusions can be drawn because of the topsy-turvy weekend. In terms of pure action though it was a bit anti-climatic, probably in part due to the drivers trying to look after their tyres more and of course their engine has to last the next race at Malaysia in order to avoid being penalised. Interesting loophole though where if you finish out of the points, it is possible to change the engine without being penalised, to which BAR took advantage.

i watched the quaifying that was on tv but as u say andy it dont look like the final one will alter it much at leasst the weather made it interesting cant wait for the race........... just got to make sure i stay awake lol

Don't think they're showing final qualifying, Lou, which seems odd. However, it sounded as if final qualifying wouldn't dramatically alter the positions after qually no.1. Watched the topsy-turvy battle for initial qualifying, which proved exciting and was just a lottery as to which position you finished what with the weather being so decisive. Poor old Massa having to tiptoe round the circuit on slick tyres in his Sauber as the heavens opened immediately after Fisichella stuck his Renault on pole as he enjoyed a dry track on slicks. Have to admit also that I'm not sure what tinkering has been done to the qualifying system this time round.

I think DC is racing for the inaugral Red Bull team (used to be Jaguar). Aussie, Mark Webster who was Jaguar's number 1 driver has moved to Williams. Not sure who DC's team mate is at the moment.

You never know. Barichello might come into his own when he's no longer overshadowed by 'the man', but Shumacher's record will take some beating! CB >|<

Williams had a good run especially when they were using Renault engines, but personally I can't remember another time when one team only had such extreme dominance over their rivals. I agree that this run can't last forever and Schumacher has probably only maybe got 2-3 more seasons left in him, much will change I think when he retires as the Ferrari operation basically revolves around him to the extent that Barrichello is merely a bit part player.

Ferrari might be top dog at present, but Williams had a good run during the 1980-90s, didn't they? And according to my book, Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio took the championship in 1951,'54, '55, '56 and '57. 'The Cobbler's' luck has to run out sometime - just be patient! CB >|<

Andy, I too thought about the handicapping, but I expect that there would be an element of 'sandbagging' to get a front row place.........LOL.............a slide here, a spinoff here....etc another method might be by taking into consideration, 'form' if you won last time out you dont get the front row this time......and so on....... I rather fancy an Isle of Man start........slowest pair first, at say 10 second intervals........ that should give them time to get round before catching up on the last ones away.........

I've now learned that Minardi's car from last year doesn't meet new rules concerning aerodynamics - that is the difference. They can race the car but only if all other teams are in agreement - Ferrari are the only team who are objecting. This is not what the sport needs and I can't see what Ferrari stand to gain by being pig-headed.

Minardi apparently are now not allowed to use their old car,and are going to court. for a judgement... I tend to agree about the 'predictable outcome' of the race, these days cars are too fast. and there seems to be no scope for the obvious driver skills.............I am not trying to take away any credit to any drivers..........and a F1 car is an awesome thing.........F1 is a highly skilled operation......from the design team, pit crews, logistics, right through to the girl with the clipboard!

ferrari like to dominate F1 completly .................. its a shame as they r spoiling it for spectators
