Did anyone read the story in the Mail today about the 'alleged' secret son of Princess Margaret? A 50 year old Robert A Brown, who lives in Jersey, claimes he is the secret son of Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend. He quotes numerous episisodes in his life that cannot be explained and Buckingham Palace won't deny it. He says he has researched Princess Margaret's movements before and after the time of his birth in January 1955. Before his birth she 'unusually for her' wore clothes that would have hid a pregnancy. At the time of his birth she was 'mysteriously' taken ill. Just after his birth she was sent to the Caribbean at short notice. Interesting. |

What I would ask him is why speak about it now, when she's no longer around (or Peter Townsend). Sounds a bit suspish! |

didnt read mail but saw the guy on fern and phils programme, fascinating, and could be true, he does look a little nervy though, bless him i did feel sorry for him, i dont know why the royals wont do DNA if it was my mum and she wasnt here to do it id do it to prove him wrong or right, they said how she gave up townesend because she didnt want to give up title, now im too young to know but from what ive read when i was younger she was ordered to by the queen or they would disown her, ironic now her sons marrying a divorcee, i felt sorry for margaret, giving up the love of her life for her sister |

Grampa Jim, Never mind your Dad, fancied her miself when I was younger. As regards the supposed son of Princess Margaret, my wife commented that there was a look of George 6th about him around the eye's, particulary if you put hair on him. Len |

I thought the story was interesting. The article says, ' . . . she continued to pay him secret visits right up to her death in 2002'. But apparently on a TV programme today he said that he couldn't definately identify her in 2002 . . . . . that seems a bit strange. I think most adults would have recognised Princess Maragaret in 2002 - especially if it was a 'secret visit'. |

I too saw him on This Morning--I haven't laughed so much in ages! He has absolutely no evidence or basis for this story at all. He came across as a sad deluded man to me. As Em and Brian said, surely you would recognise Princess Margaret--especially if you think she's your Mum! I can still remember when I saw Princess Diana--and that was just a fleeting glimpse as her car swept into Buckingham Palace! I was amazed Phil and Fern bothered with his story when he has no proof at all. Then again--did anyone see the psychic they had on this morning?? Don't know how Fern kept a straight face! Sal |

I didn't see this guy on TV so I can't comment on him. However the last couple of paragraphs of yesterday's Daily Mail article was even more interesting. After the news of Robert Brown's claim was revealed in the Daily Mail last week, the paper received a call from a man who, 50 years ago was working as a 17 year-old butcher's in North Wales. He told the Daily Mail, 'There was a lot of talk at the time that a baby had suddenly arrived at Plas Newydd, an estate near Bangor, and no one knew where the child had come from. The gossip came from the cooks, servants and staff who worked there, and there was quite a hum about it because everyone was saying the baby was Princess Margaret's and the father was Peter Townsend'. He went on to say, 'I've been waiting 50 years for this story to break - it's been a long time coming'. Whether this story is true or not I think the Royal Family have an awful lot of skeletons in their cupboards . . . . an awful lot! |

It would be nice to know exactly Princess Margaret's movements around the time this guy was born. |

I don't know how they would cover up a birth certificate, but I wouldn't put anything past that family. |

If i was them especially with all thats going on with Charles and his Horse ooppsss sorry i mean Camilla , why would they want to keep this hanging over there heads, surely they dont need this ,,,,i can't understand why they wont do a DNA and say thats that, it will be the only way this can be resolved as i think it would be quite easy for them to alter the birth cert Rachael |

They only had to pay a trusted 'Lady of the Bedchamber' to say the child was hers. It is easily done. |
