Is it ok to give him birdseed?? If not, what can he have? He looks like a permenant lodger at the moment. Seems to have made a little nest in the bushes!! xxxx

We saw a pheasant in a front garden by the main road recently. There are loads about the fields here. I wouldn't try to make a pet out of him, he's a wild bird and needs to go off and sort himself out. If he doesn't appear to be in pain or wounded I'm sure he will. and of course they can fly - the beaters beat the ground to make them fly up so that hunters can shoot them. nell

No we don`t want him as a pet but at the same time, he`s causing no problems. He`ll go whenever he wants!!! xxxx

Bloomin' pests! Gorgeous birds but damned annoying when they're crossing the road! I hate to see animals all mushed up on the road. Yesterday, had a deer run out infront of my car (on a twisty turny, very steep - was going downhill - hill). Frightened the life out of me, I had to break really hard. Saw the cutest baby rabbit trying to cross the same road, didn't see if they made it or not though! Chloe PS - good luck with the pheasant!

Kerry don't get me started on the rspca GGGGGRRRRR On Friday as it wasa nice day I decided to takekids to the park to let off some steam. So off they went to get their bikes from the shed. MUM MUM there's a cat in our shed!!!!!!!! Told them to leave Dad can deal with it when he's homes. Later that night, hubby shooed the cat out only to find it had given birth in there!!!!! So here we are 6pm on Friday, what do I do??? I know call the RSPCA..... Should have saved my self the effort... First they gave me a number for the cat protection league, 9-5 mon - fri!!!!!! called them back asked for another number they didn't know one, so said please help??????? Man did call back quickly.. first he fobbed us off telling us the cat was stil giving birth ( she wasn't) so couldn't be collected. Then whne we insisted it wasn't he changed tack and couldn't come unless it was sick or injured!!! I have four kids who do you think would be injured first?????? Thought I'd leave it until Monday and call Cat protection then. ON Sunday, when i got up could hear the kiteens screaming, went and checked the mother was gone, for food i presume. Not back by 10am so i was worried the cat had abandoned the kittens. Found the local number for cats protection, lady was round within half an hour. She sat in my house trying to capture the mother. She was there for over 2 hours. In the end she had to take the kittens as thye was getting weak. When we came home in the evening, she returned with the kittens, and we sat in darkness for 2 hours while she tried again to lure the mother back to her kittens. I telephoned her today and the kittens are doing ok, but it is still touch and go. The cat protection lady said the RSPCA regularly refuse to come out. Know who I won't bother supporting in future, and who will get my money from now on.

How terrible. Glad I`m not the only one who has had a problem with the RSPCA!! Chris said I should of called the bird people, RSPCB! This bloke on the phone really annoyed me though. Bournemouth is only a hour away and he just had the 'I can`t be bothered' attitude! Also I was asking questions about the Pheasant and he wasn`t really any help at all!! xxxx

You have a pheasant in your garden ? How about a peacock yes a peacock ,about september last year a pair of peacocks arrived in my sisters garden then they went too and frow around the houses ,we still have the cock around but the hen has disappeared . You should here the noise he makes far worse than a cockeral but everyone excepts him and he has got very tame often cars have to stop for him as he wonders down the road. Val ptfg

have u tried you council sometimes they can be helpful when we had kittens in the garden the rspcs would not come out but the council were very helpful

Hi Val , the hotel near us keeps peacocks in their grounds and I agree, the noise they make drives you mad! Kerry, my S-I-L has a house in Argyllshire and there are thousands of pheasants running wild all over the area. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as you say it'll probably go when it's ready!
