We used to have pheasants where we lived before. They'll fly away when they are ready - wheee over the hedge they went! :-) Joy |

Hi Kerry They are stunning aren't they? We back on to fields and have a couple of pheasants wandering up and down the garden almost every day at the moment. The other day one came right up to the dining room window whilst I was on here and peered at me for quite some time! He was beautiful. Daisy |

No thanks Em! Have enough of them and spend far to much time frantically looking around for a second one when I see one on its own! My mum tells me that if you see one magpie you should assume there are more and say 'hello Mr Magpie, Mrs Magpie and all the little baby magpies'. She is a wonderful woman but quite often barking! Do you know the reason seeing 1 magpie is unlucky......it is because magpies mate together for life and if you see 1 on his own it is he has probably lost his partner ...hence 1 for sorrow 2 for joy Linda |

Em and Linda - please don't tell me my mum's completely sane after all! I didn't know that's why one was unlucky. I thought it was unlucky for the person who saw it. Thanks for the info! Daisy |

Well we phoned the RSPCA and they are sending someone out. Phoned them as I was more concerned about cats/Foxes getting to it. It is beautiful but he`s hiding under a hedge! Fingers crossed my other neighbour doesn`t let her 2 dogs out in her garden. A big german Alsation and a lab! |

Are you serious bob? They have been there for quite some time xxxx |

Bob | Report | 22 Mar 2005 13:37 |

Yes I am serious. As the apples rot they start to ferment. There is quite a bit of alcahol produced from the natural surgar in the fruit and the yeast from the decay. That is why wasps become drowsy after eating fruit. Bob |

pheasants are best enjoyed........................piping hot, fresh out of the oven, with minted new potatoes, lashings of salted butter, and a good bottle of wine, . Get out there girl and bag him, before charlie does. |

Well the man who is the collector for RSPCA in our area rang. He`s in Bournemouth, basically I got the impression that he couldn`t be bothered to drive up here to collect him. So the Pheasant is still in our garden and still not sure what to do with him!(Don`t want to kill him) No where to release him around here, so have decided that we should keep him in the garden. I figure he got there on his own so he`ll leave when he`s good and ready I guess!!!xxxx |
