again, thanks for all the support. Luckily I don't have a fear of needles. At the dentist I have no trouble with injections and my dentist thinks I am strange because that is what most people are scared of. I am scared of pain, but know this wont hurt because it will be anaesthetized. with me it is fear of the unknown. I was even nervous going to the physiotherapist. Also, because i am hard of hearing any new experience is a battle until I can get the Doctor/surgeon and assistant to talk clearly for me, and I don't intend to wear my hearing aid because my ear is close to the cyst and I don't want to hear any 'snipping' going on. Tony, yes there is a type of cyst that is caused by an ingrowing hair, quite common, often on legs where ladies shave them I believe (and other places). But this is not like that, those are painful, mine is hard and not painful. Karen (in the Desert) I think i will resort to trying to puzzle out why I have so many brick walls in my Tree, that should keep me occupied. (Or I could practice Yoga relaxation and imagine myself somewhere beautiful like a sunny beach with the sun shining and the birds singing. But I think even my powers of imagination wont work ther). It is probably, put on a brave face, being a grown up lady and endure it until it is over. i am quite sure that the anticipation is worse than the actual. I am just not used to medical things, luckily rarely visit my GP except for BP checks. And now wishing I had kept my mouth shut. Ann glos |

Try to concentrate your mind on something you enjoy (NO suggestions!) and detach yourself from what's going on with the rest of you! Works for me, at the dentist.... Lily (Good Luck) |

Hi Ann, Good luck, I will be thinking of you tomorrow. I am sure once it is over you will wonder why you were so anxious. Think of something nice whilst it is being done and get Tony to spoil you afterwards. Love Jill xx |

Mandy I realised why you hadn't written, don't worry abut it. Jude, I think it will be a stiff whisky when I come home, better not before I go, might not agree with the anaesthetic!! On the other hand, could knock me out!! Thank you all of you. i really do feel better for all your good wishes. i will think of you when I am in the surgery and know you are wishing me well will help. Ann |

ann I do sympathise. I've got one as well. Its completely harmless. It runs in my family. my mum, sister and uncle have them. My mum had hers removed. Mine doesn't hurt only when i press on it but it is annoying sometimes. I've not been to the doctor about mine because it runs in the family but i may get it removed one day. Let me know how you get on and it might spur me on to get mine done. Louisexx |
