Hi All, I am allergic to watermelon. I found this out 20 odd years ago. I swelled so big, I had slits where my eyes were, 2 holes where my nostrills were and a slit where my mouth was! I had trouble breathing too. I couldnt walk for two weeks and had to take lots of anti histamine after an initial injection at hospital. I tried last year, to cut some pieces to wrap up for hubby and eldest son to munch on. Unfortunatly it made my fingers and hand swell nearly immediately so I now know I cant even touch the stuff! Shame, as I love watermelon..... Vikki xx |

IODINE... found it out when I had to have an operation and everything where it had been put on came out in horrible blisters... they slosh it all over when they put it on so it ran down to my back and tops of my legs and everywhere in between... even now I am still allergic to anything with iodine in it... Hi CB - my sister is allergic to wheat etc and has to be very careful what foods she eats. She has an awful time trying to find suitable foods. She also has leaky bowel syndrome now due to a failure on the medical worlds part, diagnosing her wrong and too late. Some days she feels like ending it all. She's been thru hell and back. 15 years they've been trying to sort her out and still trying! I wish I could carry some of her pain to help a little, but its not to be. I also have mild asthma and hayfever - which is at its worst september thru to march. Asthma only starts if I cant control my hayfever tho, so I consider myself lucky on that. Vikki xx |

Bendy Wendy - It makes you wonder how they can be allowed to practice, doesnt it? To think that we trust these type of people because of who they represent and yet this type of thing brings home the reality that they are not infallible and that things can go wrong. I think it could be even worse today what with masses of patients to be seen and in such short times for appointments. Vikki xx |

Hi Linda Seems like soft fruits are your poison then. Do berries have the same result too? Or are you okay with these? I have been tested for everything at the hospital - all negative. But, if I stroke my Staffy, I have to wash my arms because they start burning and go red with swollen blotches! Its weird. Doc says its just one of those things. I love african grey parrots too (mum in- law has one). I cant have one as they set my asthma off. Have to take double antihistamines before I go round and take an inhaler. Could just say I cant visit though because of my allergies......lol Vikki xx |

Penicillin and Bee Stings I was never allergic to Penicillin as a Child but last year Doctor gave me some Penicillin Tablets after asking me if I was allergic I naturally said No, Went to shops after the Doctor and took a tablet with a cup of Coffee after shopping. Within 5 minutes had swollen up and a Very High temperature and ended up in Hospital with it. Scared the hell out of me. Bee Stings have the same affect as Penicillin with me But apart from those 2 nothing else. My Grandaughter is allergic to Peanuts Regards Jackie |

OMG Liz - Chocolate - Not being able to eat that would have a serious affect on my mental health! On a serious note tho - my Hubby cant even have a plain biscuit thats been in the same jar as a chocolate one. It would give him a serious Migraine that would knock him out for a week. He is fine with white chocolate, but milk and plain are an absolute no no. Vikki xx |

Linda - My allergies have all got more and worse as ive got older. I was never ill as a child except for a small bout of tonsillitis. I never even had a cold. Apart from my watermelo incident, I never had any problems till I had my youngest lad 12 years ago. wether something changed then, im not sure, but just have to go with the flo now. Anything else that crops up, I just have to think 'ohh dear, another for the list'! Never mind - there are people alot worse off than me I say. Thats life. Vikki xx |
