Have any of you Ladies ever found a lump in your Breast? I have found two and have an appointment tomorrow at the docs, I have had two in the same place before about four years ago and luckily they were small cysts that went away on their own, but they seem to be bigger and a little harder and I was wondering if anyone has had any first hand experience with the treatment, like them being drained via a needle, does it hurt at all? etc I must admit I am very worried which is only natural I know but the thought of having a needle in my Breasts knocks me sick, I am not usually scared of needles but I think I will pass out if they come near me with one. I know it isnt the only thing I should be worrying about but I would just like to know if any of you who have possibly experienced something like this could be honest enough to tell me how it really feels. Sorry if I am waffling on. UPDATE:.........I have been to the docs this morning and he is almost sure that I have nothing to worry about Thankgod! but he wants me back in a fortnight to check them again for any changes, he thinks they are just cysts. Yes, Ive had 2 both benign(thank God)!!

My Daughter at 27yrs had a lump removed it came back clear, she now has about six which they say are fatty tissue, so hope it's OK for you tomorrow

Thankyou for your honest replies and the ladies that sent positve thoughts, I appreciate it. I am so nervous! I nearly passed out the first time I found them and thought they were going to drain them, but I got off lightly last time, not so sure I will this time though! Marie

I've also had two removed (one when I was 19 and the other about 18 months later), fortunately they were just fatty tissue - Fibro Adenomas I think they call them or Breast Mice (as they sometimes move about). I had a needle biopsy with both - it's such a fine needle and is so quick that you really don't feel anything, so please don't worry about that. Both operations were day cases and I was up and about the next day as normal - if a little sore on my breast. The second one was only small (3 stitches) and the next night I was out at my local night club! So don't worry about that either :-) I still have lumps in both breasts (I'm 32 now), but they come and go and the Doctors aren't worried about them and I don't want anymore bits cut out of me really. Hopefully your lumps are just cysts that will probably go away or Breast Mice that are also harmless - I will be thinking of you though, I know it's scarey. Good luck Kaye x

Just to add to my previous reply ...... I did have an ultrasound scan when I found my third lump and there were a number of small lumps in my breast, I was told that some were cysts and would most likely go away of their own accord and that others were these Breast Mice and were harmless - my Doctor said it was perfectly normal and that some women just have these lumps! I hope you're the same as me - try not to worry too much about it. Kaye x

i found one several years ago, luckily just fatty tissue. the consultant advised me then to take oil of primrose. must tell you bout when i went to the GP in the first instance. here i am bearing all to a rather dishy young doc, anyway he has a good feel, as they do, and then says uuummmm, diffucult to say, as your breasts are rather lumpy anyway!!! are they? i ask only i have never felt another womans breasts! hubby thought it was hilarious, cos i was more worried that my boobs were lumpier than average. he did offer to do a survey, but co7ldn't find enough volunteers lol BEv

When I found the first two a few years back the lady at the breast clinic who scanned me was surprised that they were the only two I had, for some reason she said she half expected to find more, but I never did ask why, I was too upset to think straight at the time as I was fearing the worse and it was just a great big relief to find out that they were only cysts. I couldnt wait to get out of there I was in such a state at the time. Marie

Thanks for that Bev it made me laugh! Mind you now you have mentioned it I do remember her saying something about me being a bit lumpy bumpy more than the norm, maybe thats why she expected to find more. Oh well I will soon find out wont I. Marie

Marie - had a fibroid adenoma removed under gen anaesthetic almost 20 years ago. Only problem was I had a baby of 3 weeks but was back breast feeding the following day and in no pain at all. Found another lump in March/April 2005 but it's a harmless cyst so they're leaving it be for now. To be honest the worse thing is the worry until you know it's fine. Good luck. Daisy

HI Marie, I had one drained about 9 years ago and didn't find it painful at all. I can only describe it as a bit uncomfortable. I had mine done by my local doctor at the surgery which was brilliant as I felt more at ease and thankfully I've had no more since. I wish you all the best and let us know how you get on! Wilf x

Hello Marie, I have had a cyst 'aspirated' at the breast clinic. Please don't be afraid. In my case, the cyst was fluid filled, it seemed to appear very quickly and was quite big!. Although the needle seemed large it was very fine....the biggest part was actually the syringe into which the fluid was aspirated from the lump. It was all quite painless....but I was scared at the time! The flippin thing filled up again some time later though, and I had to have it done again! I remember the doctor at the time likened these cysts to Newberry Fruits - those sweets with a hardish casing and a soft inside!! Since the menopause, mine haven't reappeared. I've never eaten a Newberry Fruit since though! Good luck Dee x

I had a lump about 30 years ago - before there was the treatment for cancer that there is now, I was referred to the hosp the following day. It was removed under a general anasthetic and proved to be a cyst. I still have the op scar. I'm so glad I took the 'risk' and was checked out. I know how you feel.
