Brian, I am so very glad that she is getting better, what an inspiration to us all like Julie said. I hope she continues to get better and better, what a lady! I really have nothing to worry about in comparison so I am sorry if I came across as feeling sorry for myself, like the saying goes, there is always someone worse than yourself. Goodluck for the future! Marie x |

On behalf of my wife: Lol. Twelve years ago she started to get a lot of chest infections, short of breath, constant antibiotics, really going downhill. I thought I was going to lose her. Standard tests showed nothing. Eventually, as a last resort, the consultant sent her cor a CAT scan, not expecting it to show anything. But it did: a tumour on her left lung. She does not smoke. At Barts the lower lobe of the left lung was removed. (half the lung) The tumour was benign. Recovery obviously took a long time, but little by little she did more: walking to a neighbour's; to the top of the road; through the churchyard to take the dogs to the field; to the other end of the field; and so on. It was six months before she went back to work. Now you wouldn't think there was anything wrong to look at her. Nobody told her she was still supposed to be ill, so she just got on with getting better. Just before Christmas she went for a hearing checkup. The nurse had read her notes and came into the waiting room to look for her. Not seeing anyone in a wheelchair or with an oxygen cylinder she went back into her room. She came out again a few minutes later and looked again. Still no cripple in sight. The third time she came out and still there was only this healthy looking specimen in the waiting room so she asked the name. So I believe that recovery can be a matter of your own expectations. Mrs Threadkiller goes up to the Brompton hospital every few months to act as a guinea-pig for trainee doctors to examine as part of their training to become surgeons. That way she can put back something into the profession which saved her. Several other people who have had the same operation go with her and they are all in a far worse physical condition than her. So if you have medical treatment, believe in yourself and go for the best outcome you can achieve! |

Thankyou, will still have to go through the procedure of a scan but I am fairly hopeful that they wont have to drain them off as they are quite small the Doc said, so hopefully they will just disappear again. Marie |

I would like to add - in case someone is reading this and is worried about this sort of thing - that my breasts often hurt, particularly around the time of the month. I know where my lumps are, even when I can't feel them, because they are sometimes painful - I have been reassured that this isn't anything to worry about though. Just thought it worth mentioning - wish I had know all these things when I found my first lump. Kaye x |

Marie: I know you are worried, I to have had a couple of lumps, two turned out to be fatty tissue. I go regularly for breast exams and we all should and the last time they were concerned about a cyst they found, so sent me for an ultra-sound. Turned out it was just a cyst. Funny part was for them to check it while giving the ultra-sound they asked me to hum. Felt like a bit of a fool laying on table, with breast hanging out and them doing ultra-sound while I hummed. Bu%%er was couldn't think of a song to hum. Thoughts for you. Deb |

snap marie i just been thinking bout this now, and ive got appointment tomorrow, i think mines to do with strained muscles, but am rarely without pain now, if i lift stuff, ironing, shopping, last week i said to OH , i dont see why i should be suffering this much anymore, before the pain has been associated with fibromyalgia, but the size of my chest even increases , now ive had enough |
