Another program on BBC4 tonight called family ties about family tree as well

Gary

Gary Report 11 Jan 2006 21:15

turned it over after a few minuets, did not like Paxmans attitude, as with the last series, rubbish, why pay a fee to the famous to do some thing they have no interest in, why not choose a gratefull unkown.

I nearly turned over when I first heard arrogant Paxman talking but he has been so humbled, I'm finding it very interesting. Vivienne

I think they should run a comp. for some non-celeb to make a programme tracing their ancestors. We'd all go in for it wouldn't we? r maybe not! Cheers Allie

Well he's just had a good old cry over a pair of death certificate for his GGGrandparents

Linen

Linen Report 11 Jan 2006 22:04

Typical, he has to finish the same old arrogant Paxman. I know I'm being pedantic but it does irritate when the anchor woman keeps saying, geneOlogist, instead of, geneAlogist. lol Vivienne

Shelli4 Report 11 Jan 2006 22:11

I wanna know how come he can walk into a register office and ask for and get two deaths cert simply by giving their names and the dates of death.... sometime between 1881 and 1891!!!!!!! Makes it look SOOOOOOOO easy.

Linen

Linen Report 11 Jan 2006 22:24

To be fair we don't know how long they took with the prep & the programme is only edited highlights. The problem is that people who don't have any experience, see that & think that is all there is to it. Vivienne

Shelli4 Report 11 Jan 2006 22:27

Hello Vivienne Just think it was really bad how they showed the bit at Bradford register office. Nothing about how to look up the refs or anything.

I found it very emotional> He was scathing about his g.grandad with all the children, but that man took charge of his grandsons when his son died.

Brilliant program but must agree they make it look so easy ;; Tips board take note;; now you know why so many come on thinking easy peasy and get stuck and have to ask for basic help;; They should make a program telling all the steps to take and how to find help ect ;; Hold on that will follow on a Videa/DVD not daft these TV peeps;;
