The earliest born person I met was my great aunt Chrissie born 1890 Glasgow. My first visit to Scotland from Kent was the overnight train to visit her in 1967. She died shortly after. Who is the earliest born person you met? Gloria |

I think my esrliest was a cousin of my Nana's though we always called her aunty. she was born 1882. Also don't know if it is a false memory as I was only 14 month old when she died but remember my Granny she was born in 1877. Germaine x |

It was a lady called Sybil. She was my great-aunt's sister and I would have been less than 10 years old at the time. I didn't know how old she was at the time, but since starting tracing my ancestors, I've learned she was born in 1897. She never married and died in 1988. In 2003, I made contact (through GR) with a 2nd cousin of my mum's. We met up that summer and I met up with his family including his dad who's now in his mid to late eighties. It was fascinating to hear him recall tales of ancestors in my tree and that he had been a pageboy when only 5 at one particular wedding. A lot of the older generation has died out on my side, so I was grateful for the opportunity to hear some of his stories, it's things like this that help add colour to the names and dates on pieces of paper. |

The earliest-born person I ever met was my paternal Grandad, who was born in Sunderland in May 1880. I can only remember meeting him once, when I was about 4-5 in 1953/4. He travelled down from Lancashire to London (Don't know why) and came to visit us. I don't remember him too clearly, but I do remember sitting on his knee and talking to me. He was wearing a 3-piece suit and had a watch and chain. I was allowed to look at the watch. When he left, he gave me a shilling for my moneybox. He died in 1955. I'd never seen a photograph of him or my Grandma before last year, when a cousin I'd contacted via a second cousin on GR sent me photos of them. Unfortunately, I no longer have them, as I thought my son had copied them onto CD for me (as I'd asked him to) before I sent them to my niece in France. She never received them, so now they're lost, and I hope to get replacements when I visit my family later this year. CB >|< |

Strictly speaking it was my dad's Aunt Ada, born in 1891, but as she died when I was 2, I don't remember her. The earliest born person that I remember was my lovely grandad, born in 1893, sadly he died when I was 4 but I remember sitting on his knee while he read me stories and I also remember helping him in the garden. He is the only grandparent I had, so the memories are extra special to me. Maz. XX |

My Mum's godmother. She was born in 1896, and she remained a spinster all her life, having lost her sweetheart in the 1st World War. She was a lovely lady, used to have lots of interesting tales to tell, how I wish I had noted them down Dee xx |
