Roxanne, I was not suggesting tha you did, I'm sorry. What I meant was.......... it's a CARTOON!! They have performed the most awful acts, this is a cartoon!!! ALL religions were represented in the cartoon. The Jewish religion also does not allow the representation of God, in fact even his name is not actually said! Deanna X |

No wonder Muslims are going mad about it. I would certainly be offended If I were a Muslim. Look for yourselves at the 'Cartoons' remove the brackets. http://face-of-muhammed(.)blogspot(.)com/ Ron www.genealogyprinters(.)com |

Thank you Ron for the link. I have now seen them. I can understand a bit more as Gwynne pointed out that no image of muhammed is to be drawn. But how do they know what he looks like?? I did listen to a bit of the debate on tv earlier. The Jordan journalist printed these in his paper so that everybody could make up their own minds was sacked a couple of days ago but today he has been arrested. Okay so they might find it offensive towards there religion but why go to all that trouble protesting against a drawing in a newspaper. You just dont buy that newspaper again. Anybody remember the Andy Capp drawings/cartoons?? Dont buy papers so dont know if that is still going but I think the name on that would now be politically incorrect!!! GLoria |

I haven,t seen the cartoon myself but don,t you think that the muslims have gone a bit to far . I am from the North East and live in Yorkshire and have many a time been called a Geordie B**** .do i shout racisium NO ,Catholic and C of E religions have called each other for years do they shout racisium NO . I actually blame the goverment for all this racisium nonsence . It is nothing to do with religion or colour anymore . I think the goverment are making things worse by bending over backwards to please Muslims and forgeting that dispite colour or religion every one in this country are equal . I do think that the majority of people are not racist against colour but are racist about the way they get treat softly softly in case they get upset . Cath |

wasnt there a thing about the lights in regent street at christmas. Not allowed to call them Christams lights but think they are now festive or seasonal lights because it would upset other denominations. Cliff Richard was quoted as saying that he has friends from other denominations and he does not take offence to their customs. In fact he would join in if asked to and he is a devout christian is he not?? Gloria |

Images of mohammed were produced by the Persiansin the middle ages and still exist but a spokesman for islam says that they have changed their mind since then........................a bit like the bible being rewritten in the middle ages to inlude witches.........( don't ask me where they are included...I had trouble accepting the bible when I was still at school) but I feel that that beliefs do not have to include every written word |

Colin. I don't know where you get your information from, but the word 'witch' only appears twice in the bible. Both times in the original Hebrew. 1.) Ex 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. 2.) De 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Looking up the word, we find Witch Occurs only in Ex 22:18 as the rendering of _mekhashshepheh_, the feminine form of the word, meaning 'enchantress' (R.V., 'sorceress'), and in De 18:10 as the rendering of _mekhashshepheth_, the masculine form of the word, meaning 'enchanter.' There was no altering the Bible. God has preserved his word. |

O.K. so the cartoons were offensive. That has been established. It is now up to Denmark and France to apologise if they so wish. Why is Jack Straw apologising? Will the Council of British Muslims please apologise to me for the offensive placards that were displayed on London Streets and the sight of a baby in a pushchair wearing a hat displaying 'I love Al Qaeda.' |

The behaviour of certain quarters of Muslims is more offensive than any cartoon, especially considering the newspaper was not intending to offend and has apologised. Half those people protesting won't have even seen the cartoons, but have decided they're offensive anyway. Some Muslims seem very keen to protest when they perceive themselves to have been slighted, but very quiet when others are offended. I'm sure the Jews find Iran's official Holocaust-denial policy offensive, but they don't storm embassies or burn flags. Buddhists didn't gather in London with 'butcher those who mock Buddha' placards when the statues were destroyed. This worldwide condemnation from Muslims isn't aimed towards extremists like Al-Qaida, who corrupt the principles of Islam to justify mass-murder and hostage-execution, but towards some drawings. The Danish and Norwegian Embassies - yes, Norway, too - in Damascus have been burnt down by a mob protesting against the cartoons, but I'll bet you anything you won't see hordes of Norwegians chanting and firebombing. |

what I dont understand is how do they know its Mohammed nobody has ever seen him if he even exists, and I agree how dare they behead people and then complain about a silly cartoon. If we started to say kill the Muslims we would be arrested. I feel sorry for the ordinary Muslims who must feel embarrassed by the few |

Davo, It was a religous discussion ,possibly on TV or Radio 4 many years ago and it was said that the bible was alterred to include the word witches as at the time there was a fear of them in England.....this statement was not denied by the others in the discussion... There is no way I would argue with anyone about what is or isn't in the Bible ..I do not have the knowledge... but the original Hebrew would not have included the word .. ' witch ' and who knows if 'witch ' is a true translation of the original writing.. |

On another site I saw a ref to this http://www.news(.)com.au/story/0,10117,18066746-1702,00.html?from=rss Says it is an offensive cartoon about the Jews from Iran. Why do the pick on tghe Jews in response to a cartoon in western papers. Couldn't view it though, due to my firewall being oversensitive. Does that with a number of sites, since I upgraded last week. If someone manages to view it, perhaps you can descibe it? David |
