What about Journey into Space in the early 50's? Jet Morgan and his sidekick Lemmy, plus Doc. We used to draw the curtains and turn the light off to get the full benefit of the atmosphere! Unbelievable nowadays!

All wonderful shows and going back a bit further 'Island in the Mist' on Childrens Hour then 'The Gang Busters' 'this is Tortoni speaking'. June- the tune for Dick Barton Special Agent was called 'The Devils Gallop. James - How about 'Down in the jungle, what do think we did? Flogged a pair of nylons, five quid or General Eisenhower C-in C wants to be demobbed now - so did we ! Cherry - Journey into space was devised by Charles Chilton who went on to compose 'Oh, What a Lovely War' with the Joan Littlewood Workshop Rupert Bear - you forgot Frisby Dyke played by Derek Guyler Sandra - I think the dog Psyche was with Paul Temple and his wife Steve. The music was 'Festival at Baghdad' from Rimsky- Korsakov's 'Scheherezade' Anyone remember 'Sunday Night at Seven' which became 'Sunday Night at Eight-o-Clock' with Ronnie Waldman hosting the quiz -'Get your pencil and your paper out - you're the winner if you know about' Good night All you Ovaltineys !

I remember them all. I loved them all too. When my mother and father bought the Television I cried. The radiogram was in the livingroom.... with the new bl**min tele, so I could not listen to my favourites. Educating Archie? The Glums? All the ones you have remembered. And James just like you, I have a great long term memory..... but what did I have for dinner yesterday?? Deanna X

John

John Report 17 Mar 2006 10:15

James - it took something of a genius to play the violin as bad as Vic Oliver - brings to mind Victor Borge playing 'Tea for Two' and getting the audience to sing along -then changing key twice - then stopping and asking the audience 'What's wrong. don't you know it ?'

Deanna

Deanna Report 17 Mar 2006 10:23

Victor Borge, what a great laugh he was. You do all realise that I'm too young to remember..... My parents told me! Deanna X ;-0)
