Looking for books on playwrights in waterstones and they had about 1 little rubbish type thing. Went off to the main library round here and they had grand total of 0! Now I'll have save up £10 (sad), walk all the way to the bank, deposit it into my empty account and get one off Amazon.

I was just looking for something to catch my eye, but the choice was VERY limited. Probably for the best, as today I came up with corker of a motive and decided on the killer.

Well Anne, I hope to turn my idea into a proper script. I tried my hand at fiction writing but couldn't quite hack it, now I shall try the stage.

Everytime I hand in a £10 note they always ask me how much of it I want to put in. I just go all light-headed and deposit it all. I just can't help myself.

if you mean biographies I'd suggest something on Brecht, Chekhov or GBS. Oscar WIlde of course is also great - but most of his biogs tend to be overweighted in the scandal areas. Z

Daniel Have you thought of sweeping one instead of writing for one Paul

You do know of course Daniel... A play has to have more than one Act, more than 2 characters (usually), and an originall script!! Anne:)))

Zoe Report 4 Apr 2006 13:25

aaaaaah - you want something along the lines of 'Playwriting for Dummies' It's a lot easier to write fiction than it is to scriptwrite - unless your really familiar with reading scripts or stage writing or have done a fair bit of acting. It's certainly not easier than writing a book Z

Slinky

Slinky Report 4 Apr 2006 13:28

Agree that fiction writing is much easier than writing a play... Try writing about what you know rather than what you think you know!!! You may surprise yourself...lol... Anne:)))

Don't be putting me off. I have an idea and will try and get off the ground. I've read a couple of plays, seen a couple. I have what I think is good idea that would really only work scripted. I just need tips on tecnique.
