Any one else who read them in their youth...? I used to read them quivering under the covers with my torch....really scared....!

I read them when I was about 8 or 9. Loved all the Enid Blyton books. Twins of St. Clairs used to crack me up.

I loved them and gave my original books to my children to read, they have kept them to give to their children to read (if and when they have children) On one flight I even read F5 instead of grown up novel!! Sandra x

I loved the secret seven and famous five, my eldest son read them as a child too, but don't think the other 2 did. I too remember reading under the blankets with a torch!!

Strange that EB has been criticized by the PC people for the books she wrote yet they have stretched across the generations. I read them in the 40s and 50s, my children read them and I am sure my Grandsons have also read them and Granddaughter definitely loves Noddy books. Did anyone else enjoy the arthur Mee books, another set that have lasted across the generations. (We didn't mean to go to sea, Swallows and Amazons, Coot club) Ann Glos

Hi Polly Anna, Yes remember them with great affection,I was always reading. When you were very young did you read the Milly Molly Mandy stories by Joyce Lankester Brisley?She also drew the beautiful illustrations. MMM's friends were Billy Blunt and Susan,they lived in a little village. I've still got one of the books and still like reading it!!! Mau ;0)

O happy days remember them well. vivid imagination as I was no 6 always joining in their many adventures. Yes EB is criticised sadly she is supposed to be politically incorrect,i.e. they all had mums and dads. Dorothy

Milly , molly and Mandy , had forgotten them....but the Famous five were my favourite, my children preferred Beatrix Potter...lovely drawings....do children todays still read Enid Blyton ? I also remember the problem with Big Ears and Golly, nonsense wasn't it...

Yes.....read them all. Favourite I think was Five on Kirrin Island....or something along those lines. Great stuff.

Hyah ... i loved em ... read every one several times ... but my favourite enid blyton one was one called ' Castle of Adventure' .... now that was an adventure lol the children did not have a dog twas a parrot i think lol .... my grandaughter who is 18 now loved them too and still got all her copies xxx

we were easily pleased, no tv till I was about ten but never bored......ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
