At the moment I am reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult. It is about a girl born to save her sister from Leukaemia (a 'designer' baby). Quite a disturbing book (fiction). When she is 13 Ann decides that she might as well be sick she spends so much time in hospital and she decides to sue her parents for the rights of her own body, Ann Glos

Ann I've read that book and once I got past the first couple of chapters I really enjoyed it. Have also read The Pact and Salem Falls both of which I enjoyed especially the latter.

I did join last year, but then my Membership ran out and I didn't get around to renewing it until this year. I may join again when I have a bit more time - don't have the time to really get into a book right now so don't feel that I would participate properly, so I will wait. I have recently read 'The Handmaid's Tale' which was really good and have started on a new book called 'Labyrinth' by Kate Mosse, I've only just started it but it seems promising. Kaye x

Hi Ann Think I said I'd try and have a go last month but haven't got enough discipline or time at the moment lol. One of these days.. But I have just read Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time which was brilliant and quite an easy read. It's narrated by a 15 year old with Aspergers Syndrome and gave me a really good insight into the condition. I'd recommend it:)

I'm reading all the Kathy Riechs books just now. I'm nearly finished 'Bare Bones'.... she is not onlya good writer. She actually knows what she is talking about, which makes her books so exciting. I have learned so much from her in the past few weeks. I still have two books to go. Then I will start on my other list. I still have book tokens from Christmas. Deanna X

Anna I am enjoying it :-) I think I've read PS I Love You. Isn't it the one where her husband has died and leaves her letters to read, one for each month for about a year after his death. Not much good at remembering book titles lol, have to read the back to see if I've read it sometimes. I do remember enjoying that book.

I've just recently read Handstands in the dark by Janey Godley, it was all about living in glasgow while the drug gangs were rife and life with gang lords in the family, this was a very good read!! Also just just finished The little prisoner by Jane Elliott another very good book about a child who was abused, tortured and sexually abused by her domineering stepfather right the way into adulthood and she couldn't escape him and when she did she was shunned by all but one of her family for speaking out about what she went through..fantastic book that's been written from a true life experience but a warning to the sensitive...don't read if easily upset :( I am an avid book worm and keep having to donate books to charity to clear space for more!! :-)))))))))))

In Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet In Heaven,' Eddie is a lonely war veteran and widower who feels like his life as a repairman at the Ruby Pier Amusement Park has been meaningless. On his 83rd birthday, an accident on one of the rides imperils a five-year-old girl, and Eddie risks his own safety in front of a horrified crowd as he attempts to save her life. The last thing he sees is the little girl's frightened face. The last thing he feels is two small hands in his. Then, after a blinding flash of light and silence, Eddie reawakens in an unfamiliar place called Heaven… but he's not alone. Five people -- each of whom shares with him a fateful and significant connection -- have been waiting to meet him. Some are loved ones, some are distant strangers, yet they all have the same goal -- to introduce Eddie to the true meaning and value of his life by showing him how their lives and deaths have been a part of his own in ways he never suspected. Each of these souls is looking for closure, each has a story to relate, a secret to divulge and a lesson to impart -- the Blue Man, the Captain ,Ruby , Marguerite and Tala . One by one, they illuminate the impact that Eddie has had on others and show him why his life on Earth was not insignificant. When he meets his fifth person in Heaven, Eddie, still haunted by the question of whether the little girl lived or died, finally begins to understand how truly interconnected we all are.

I have read 'PS I Love You' and it was a wonderful book full of mixed emotions. I laughed, I cried, I 'sobbed' in places. Her other books have been a huge disapointment to me. I have also read ' The Five People You Meet in Heaven'. I loved that too. Read them bothe so long ago. I have a pile of books which my son bought me for Christmas and Mothers day still waiting......... BUT they will be read. Deanna X
