Anne, I find that a couple of kettles of boiling water and Fairy Liquid does the job. Just swish it around and then use an old cloth and a broom handle to get the hard bits away. Works for me anyway!! JJH.

Jean Report 4 Jun 2006 17:34

I think its disgusting that we have to have our ordinary bins emptied fourtnightly, the powers to be have even said waste food products should be disposed off quickly, fed up with the blasted bluebottles and what they leave behind in the bins, have used that jeyes dustbin powder for ages. Im sure you can get it from smaller hardware shops rather than the big ones. jean

Germaine

Germaine Report 4 Jun 2006 17:38

I bought some not that long ago but can't for the life of me remember where. Think it might have been a cheapie shop. Good idea though as some have said is to use Ajax or Vim. Also what about Nuetradol carpet powder. Now that should get rid of any smell. Germaine x

in my small road, we have one restaurant, and six ' take aways 'but refuse collection is brilliant, two per week! one per fortnight is not acceptable in the summer months, and must contravene health and safety surely. as for the smell, i would ask your local hardware shop for ideas. bryan.

Hi Anne, I've just got in & seen your question. I use a product by 'Neutradol'. Carpet Odour Destroyer, for use in refuse bins as well. I can't remember how much it is but you don't have to use a lot at a time. Vivienne xx

How about sprinkling in some bicarbonate of soda before you seal the bag.
