I'm on my way very soon :-)))) Just been talking with my Dad, and asked him if he remembered an old friend of mine ( she's a nurse in a hospital there ) .any way, turns out he can't even remember where I lived !! PMSL - dear ole Dad. Anyway, we both agreed that we should have a trip over to Stoke one day soon, if we can find our way around now, with all the new roads they've built etc. I'll NOT let you know when I'm coming though, that'll be the surprise !! Elaine ;-)

Very fond memories of The Place !!!! Is knutton still as bad as it was ??? We always said it should have a fence around it with the words HMS Prison Knutton in big letters !!! My daughter was born at the Maternity Hospital in Newcastle, but she'd kill me for telling everyone :-) North Staffs :-)

Dizzy Lizzy 205090 Report 22 Jun 2006 18:00

Knutton is ok, I worked with some nice Nurses who lived there. Whatever is wrong with being born at North Staffs? Saying that, I went to Nuneaton to have my 2, but circumstances dictated it. Liz

Liz; I'm not ashamed of having lived in Knutton ... not sure why my daughter keeps quiet about it ! ... may have something to do with the reputation it's got !!! I found that the people from Knutton were down to earth and very open and friendly ... other than those who continually tried to break into my house every night !! Sure they couldn't read the notices on the windows !!!! Where abouts in Newcastle were you then Liz ?? ... please don't say Clayton !!! I worked in a pub up May Bank for many months - that's when I was in a flat up there. Just trying to remember the name of the pub ! ( having worked in so many ! It wasn't the Victoria Arms - lived in the flats next to that - it was the one across the green ...??? Elaine ;-)

Hello Elaine, Sorry, I know nothing about Stoke on Trent, but I wanted to ask how you are bearing up after that awful tragedy last week, I have been thinking about you. Was it the funerals this week? Take care, Karen x

Errmmm... Clayton? Lived on the Clayton/ Westlands border till age 13, then moved further into Clayton (down Northwood Lane). Now live in Seabridge lol. What is wrong with Clayton? Can't think of the pub, but Hubby might know. Will ask when he gets back. Liz
