My son came off his horse yesterday and landed on his feet on a gravel drive. ..The only way I can describe his injury to his right leg is that his foot has been pushed up into leg. The bone has come out of his leg by about 3/4 inches at his ankle. He was airlifted to Maidstone Hospital and had an emergency op. last night.......They got in two top surgeons in to do the job as it was so complicated. They have said the op. went as well as could be expected....He's got plates and metal rods and screws. He was on so much pain relief when we saw him last night he was talking rubbish........ He and his partner were supposed to be coming for dinner tonight and he was mumbling something about, even though he was holding my hand at the time, 'Can you tell my Mum that I don't think we'll be able to make dinner tomorrow night...I came out and had a good old grizzle......... Going back this morning to check on him with OH............... Please wish him well and that he will gain the maximum mobiliy that he can. He is is the Mounted Police, so is devastated and hoping he can ride again. Linda |

I remember your posting on another thread Linda, when you said your son was in the Mounted Police......you can have some nasty accidents with horses, and this sounds like it is going to take some time to repair. I will send positive thoughts to your son, and hope to hear from you in the days to come that he is getting better........x.........Sally |

Hope your son makes a full recovery Linda and is able to get bakc to work soon. My lad had a plate in his leg for a few years. They only took it out when a screw came loose. Used to make people laugh when they said why are you going in hospital he used to say 'cause I have a screw loose'!!! we didn't need telling that LOL. Seriously hope all goes well for him Germaine x |
