Donna many moons ago I did an ASH course to give up smoking - lasted 8 months. One tip they gave was to have packets of dried apricots to munch on - take so long to eat them you forget you want a cigarette. Another tip was everytime you want a cigarette have a glass of orange juice - cigarettes taste awful after OJ. Good Luck. T.O.R. xx

Strump and Lorraine - I was all for joining the 'giving up brigade' last year and then some sort of trauma occurred - can't remember now what it was - and I immediately turned to the ciggies. However, this year I am doing what Lorraine appears to be doing. I am cutting down - right down. I am allowing myself 5 a day. I have worked out that I have to go about 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours between ciggies to achieve this. I aim to do this for a month and then in February I'll allow myself 4, March 3 and so on. Hope by the middle of the year I will have kicked the habit and I am gambling on the fact that as I am only very gradually depriving my body of the nicotine and chemicals that I won't be tempted to gorge on food and put on too much weight. My incentive for this?.....;. well health obviously, BUT I have decided to treat myself to having my teeth whitened and a couple of veneers put on the front and I want to keep them white - vanity could be my saving grace. Good luck to you all

The Nurse gave me many tips, one was put some water in a jar with some fags and ash in it, which i did.........have to say i see it and it stops the craving! I have a fridge full of OJ TOR, so thats ok lol. Food is my danger zone, so im not doing alot of eating, fruit seems to be my diet right now.

My big test was at the rugby today, the club house.....they must have known i was going..........brougth in no smoking!! (had already within the ground), so today was ok. It transpires the players didnt like to go in the club house because of smoke, so its been banned, luckily for me lol.
