Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 2 Mar 2007 22:47

Hi Girls, sorry to be so late - couldn't get on here! Well, she didn't pass the 11+ I'm afraid - but then neither did ANY of her friends who took it! I'm very surprised that no-one did. She has been allocated the Academy which is within walking distance (it was her 4th choice - after the 2 selectives that she didn't get it, then a girls school that we knew we probably wouldn't get as we don't live near enough). It became an Academy in September - it has been the worst school in the borough for a number of years, but is being completely rebuilt with fantastic top-line facilities and has a new dynamic and ambitious Headteacher. I am glad that some really nice girls from her class are going there. She is happy enough - the only problem for her is that her 2 best friends are going elsewhere, but she makes friends easily and I'm sure she will be fine. Thanks everyone for your concern! Maz. XX

Hi Maz, Im sure she will do well wherever she goes. I think it's mostly down to the child anyway. My sister and I went to the same school, had the same upbringing etc. I did really well at school (for that school anyway) but my sister didnt pass any of her GCSE's. Pat x

Maz, sorry she didnt get one of her first choices hun my eldest didnt get his and ended up going to a school with pretty much none of his friends coz they all went to a school we had no hope of getting into coz of where we lived. He ended up in a class with only one kid he knew....a girl!!! lol he did find it difficult in the first couple of weeks but soon settled in.....he is now nearly 17, left last september and is at college in london....the school.....even though considered to be the worst in the area....did him proud......he got on really well with the teaches, one of who wrote him a fantastic reference for college enabelling him to get an unconditional offer before he even took his GCSE's. I am sure your daughter will settle in too, and will make lotes of new friends there...good luck to her in her new school maz xx

Thanks Theresa, Pat and Webster :-) she is ok with it, but her 'best' friend at primary keeps texting her saying how much she will miss her. On Monday I bet she finds loads more of her friends are going there too. Maz. XX
