bloody hell that's awful. I had a very similar experience but it was the woman who lived with my dad nothing we could do, but she got everything even though my dad told my daughter she was to get most of his shares ect, this woman cashed the lot in. Very sad as it's not what my dad wanted. |

Sorry to hear about your mum, it is hard enough I know coping with your grief and sorting out all the paperwork besides, without someone doing this despicable thing. I hope the police get a confession and throw the book at the person responsible. Rosexx |

Claire, I am so sorry you have had such a rotten thing happen after losing your Mum, and to think this was a friend of the family did this dishonest thing, some friend! I do hope they will admit what they have done, but will they have spent the money or will you have any chance of getting it back? You must have felt sick to the stomach when you found out what was happening, especially at a time you are grieving and want no more problems. Will be thinking of you and hoping this gets dealt with quickly and satisfactorily. Liz |

Hi Claire I too remember your thread about your Mum's passing, and I'm so sorry that you have this awful situation to go through on top of it. When my Mum passed away a few months ago, everything was straightforward but Dad (and me too, being the executor) had to fill in a form everywhere we went and keep proving who we were, so it sounds as if the Post Office are as much to blame for not checking this person's credentials out. I hope it gets sorted out without too much extress distress for you. Mandy x |

My goodness, that is crazy, the Post Office staff should take the blame as much as the fraudster, why on earth would your poor Mum want to have £75 daily, bless her. I would think with those details available, the staff there should be hanging their heads in shame and offering to refund the money from their own wages. So obvious things weren't right, why the heck didn't they query it with you? And how stupid of the person doing it, are they really thick that they didn't realise they would be found out. It is sad to realise your Mum was being 'cared for' by someone deliberately out to defraud her. Liz |

Hi Rosie Yes they do send out statements but only three times a year. It wasn't until after the post office sent the cheque to me that I looked for them. They certainly made interesting reading. An average of £75 a day was being withdrawn and nobody at the post office counter thought to speak to me about it. Like I said earlier they thought it was strange as they knew she never touched that account, but that didn't stop them allowing it to carry on. The withdrawals only started about 8 months ago and Over £9000-00 gone poof !!! |

Hi Purple He admitted to withdrawing the money but told the police she asked him to do it and that he gave the money to her and that we the family must have found it and are hiding the fact. He reckons we are out to get the Post Office to compensate us so we get double. It's not us her three children that would have had it.h He's taken it from her 11 grandchildren whom she wanted to have it. She didn't give a fig about us, like she said we've all got our lives settled its the young ones who need a boost she said it was their WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! money and he's taken it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Claire, what an evil b*****d, but it is so obviously a lie, as if your mum would get him to draw out such an amount daily. The staff still seem to me to be at fault as they should have made sure the necessary paperwork was completed, and queried such odd happenings. How can he sleep at night? You must be in turmoil over it all, take care Liz |

Well, if that idiot has been flashing the cash like that, when everyone knew he wasn't working, he has shot himself in the foot! Maybe the police need to talk to the pub landlord about how much he was spending and in what denomination the notes were etc, compared to how the post office paid out, I am sure they would remember. Try to stop anyone close to you giving him a walloping or it might prejudice your case. Keep us posted, want to hear that lowlife has been hammered for this by the police, don't suppose he will have a lot left to repay tho if he has been having a spending spree. Has he any assets that could be sold? |

Well that is good Claire, that the people are prepared to speak up. Surely he isn't shacked up in that sense, with his niece, is that legal? Poor girl is in for a let down, whatever the set up. Some strange folk around that can behave in this way towards family and friends. |
