are there people on GR that you think you will never ever get along with no matter what they do?

No not from my point of view towards others,,as I dont get emotionally involved so its easy to stay neutral,,,,,,,, Updated, This is a public site,not a private club,,,,and neither is this topic board,,,,,,

then you are a better person than me and no I am not taking the mickey!! 3 times I have had to eat my words....... twice for people I thought I disliked with a passion and once for someone I thought of as a friend! I am glad I have recognised them now tho for what thay are! xx

I think the problem with all online forums is that reading what people say isn't the same as talking face to face. It's so easy to misunderstand or get totally the wrong idea about what someone is like. Sometimes you can get a picture in your mind about how you think someone looks or who they are but it's only a snapshot and we all know how awful some of us can look in passport photos!!!! LOL Sue

My philosophy in life is.....it's too short!! A couple of years ago another member and I had a 'spat'. Not nearly as bad/personal as some of the recent ones. (I don't believe in getting personal in print - it could end up being libelous!) After a period of ignoring each other, I am pleased to say we now respond on each other's threads (although we may not admit it!! lol) It's an interesting challenge to your own pre-conceptions to try to get along with someone who you think is in total opposition to your own views. There must be points that cross in everyone's lives - try to find them and build on them - it doesn't actually hurt!! :o) maggie

You know what..... If you dont like someone, avoid them, simple. Your have a much happier, stressfree life without the negativity in your life......

Although reading isn't the same as talking face to face I think that you can get a pretty fair idea of the different personalities. There are people I seem to have clicked with and others who I feel I have nothing in common with, but I would speak to them all. If they are rude or unpleasant to me I just wouldn't 'talk' with them again. Susan

I think alot depends on what sort of threads or replies some people come up with tho.......Its not all about arguments and gripes with other members. Some peoples threads just dont appeal....so you then you make a mental note not to read that persons thread.......well I do. We cant all have the same likes/dislikes and cant all be compatible. I just add to threads where I think I'm welcome to add and on the odd occasion that I put my own thread up if new faces add to it then I think that maybe they are on the same wavelength.....its not always the case....but I'm sure there are many people who would see my name on a thread title and not bother reading or adding cus they have no interest in it. I think when you've been knocking around this board for a few years you get a gut feeling about who you want to talk to and who you dont...it doesnt have to be cus you dislike these people....its more about if you have anything in common with them. OOOPS....just fell orf me soapbox.......!!! I

Yes, I feel quite sick at the way some people on here degrade others, I stay away from those people whenever possible, they have a nasty streak about them that causes trouble for others. Mary

I like to think I can get along with everyone, what I don't agree with is how you are portrayed because you are friendlier with some more than others, people should never judge. catherine xx

X I agree there is some more of a connection with some people than with others, there are only 3 or 4 people, who I would say that I would want to keep in touch with on here, if I never renewed my subscription. I think everyone has their own characters and style, it's just if you get on with their individual personality isn't it...some are/have been harsh towards me personally, I don't particularly give a monkeys chuff really! ! ! I don't change for anyone.

I've seen some really horrible stuff posted here and I choose to avoid the people who post it, as I would in real life. And there was no way I misinterpreted what the poster was saying. I also avoid those who are using or have used duplicate or fake IDs because I dislike deceit. We all have choices about who we interact with. I don't judge people by who they associate with but I do judge those who post spite and venom and those who defend them. And I stay away from them Gwynne

There are people on here, who I will never EVER get along with. Some are people that I dont share views with and we just muddle on side by side, others I wont ever want to be friends with, And they have proven time and time again, no matter if I try to avoid them or their thread/s, a dig, or goad is often made regardless on what Ive posted at that time. I added to a thread recently and was jumped upon by a couple of people just because I added to her thread (I was referring to the topic and obviously not to the person herself !!! it couldn't even have been mistaken as so ) ( I shouldn't have to avoid threads I wish to add to in a constructive way, if I want to post on a thread as a fee paying member im entitled to as they are) I'm still being called names on threads which I find personally offensive to me, which ive asked previously not to be called to me, and to which certain people find amusing to throw at me whilst batting their eyes in feigned innocence. Following someone round the threads they are posting on calling them names is bullying, and was witnessed by other members, and may I say, by abuse. With friends like that you dont need enemies. Ill stick to those people I'm comfortable with, judge any newcomer on their own merits Normally I can see if the're the flame baiting kind after a few weeks, or days in some cases, :o)))) So then I'll try to avoid those kind of people, unless of course they jump in on a thread joining in with whats sport for others :o))) Sad to have to feel on your guard, but that's life on the board , im afraid for many of us now.
