Well, battered, bruised and feeling sore, but the beastie is gone :-D

The process took just over an hour and apart from one little hiccup towards the end when the local anaesthetic wore off (more was administered) I really didn't feel a thing, although this morning I definitely know what has happened.

Ironically, regarding the wearing off of the 'local', whilst the original dose was being administered, I told the staff that the last time I had a surgical procedure done under a 'local' it wore off halfway through the operation.....and that was a vasectomy! That was over forty-five years ago but some traumas are etched forever in the memory.

Anyway, back to the present; a couple of days rest and then a follow up visit to have the stitches removed next week.

Once again, I do sincerely thank you all for your kind thoughts

With corks?

Allan

Allan Report 20 May 2026 22:45

Screw caps...corks seem to have gone out of fashion as stoppers for wine bottles in Oz :-D

ArgyllGran Report 20 May 2026 22:47

Screw caps are more painful when they hit your face.

So pleased the procedure went well Allan...apart from the anesthetic :-0

My main problem was keeping the wound dry...putting your head in a plastic bag is not recommended ;-) :-D

Plenty of rest now....it is a healer <3

The most annoying thing about the whole issue, apart from my own stupidity, is that I have always tried to avoid the sun, but in my job as an Environmental Health Officer that was not always possible.

Sunscreen was not always applied :-(

Talk about things coming back to bite you!
