Why, if people do not like another member or have a problem with someone, do some people find it impossible to do the best thing, which is not to post on threads or respond to that person??

I speak from experience ................ I had major problems with someone last year, and eventually learned that it was best for my own health, to resist any urge to even read their threads. Most especially, I had to resist the urge to embroil other people in my own antipathy.

I'm seeing too many RR'd posts at the moment

Have to agree Sylvia

There seems to be a lot of "stalking" going ... and the same little group all arriving on the same thread at the same time in order to wreck the posters thread ,,

for absolutely no logical reason ....

Sylvia I think GR must be aware of this happening, as we all are ...
and will curtail the "stalkers. eventually ...as no one likes to see this happening
,.. and GR have dealt with this group behaviour before ...

Having had several threads wrecked I decided to do what you suggest SylviaInCanada and not post on the wreckers threads or respond in any way to their sad attempts to wind me up - a lesson I learned the hard way.

Generally speaking I find the majority of the people on here are very pleasant and a joy to participate with in discussions.

Hello Sylvia nice to see you I feel like I haven't seen you post in ages, and you too Renes I hope you are both well :-D

"There seems to be a lot of "stalking" going ... and the same little group all arriving on the same thread at the same time in order to wreck the posters thread "

For as long as I have been a memeber on GR this has been the fashion, just different people and different groups which have often been referred to as gangs/cliques/...........erm tries to think of another example.... anyway I normally know 1st hand why or whom but today I will join I haven't got a clue/who do you mean/what and where gang/cliques/example or maybe I will join there must be a secret society somewhere I am not involved in :-| which will means I may be next :-0

I guess we all feel we are set on at times, and this group thing is quite powerful.

Strangely, I feel one of the posters on this particular thread is constantly trying to wind me up and I now avoid that person because life it too short. I have not been able to post on any thread that poster starts without being told my views are rubbish or off topic or a bit short upstairs. Has been very rude at times. I know I can be and apologise for that, but don't believe this poster even knows he (or she) is being rude.

Wumming is clearly in the eye of the beholder, good debate is clearly what we individually see.

Awww Hayley it is frightful that you now do not know what is going on, who is doling what, and with whom..tsk tsk....I used to rely on you for a run down. You were queen of the cliques/gangs. No wonder the boards are going downhill :-D :-D :-D

Hi Hayley

Yes, still here, still paying my subs ....
As you know, I am a great believer in "live and let live" but some things are just plain stoooopid .....

And the old saying of ....."The lady doth protest too much, me thinks" starts to
spring to mind. ,,..

You are, of course correct, this is the way of this particular chat board ..... because it is only monitored retrospectively ,..

Hayley, I have always enjoyed teasing a bit if I perceive someone to be so full of his or her own knowledge and importance as to need a reality check. If that makes me a wum, then so be it.

There are some very clever posters who argue their case very competently (like Shirley Williams and Owen Jones, for example). Some with charm, some without. Don't mind either and enjoy their posts a lot.

You have others who neither have cleverness or ability to debate, but think they have. And get really uppity if weaknesses in their arguments are exposed. And then wonder why no one bothers to post on their threads.

:-S

Because it's a game that wouldn't be allowed in polite society and like naughty children get away with it on this site.

I don't visit the site very often with being busy elsewhere but have picked up on a brief affair which didn't work out for whatever reason but that is between them. From someone looking in it looks like someone is being hounded in an attempt to get them to leave. Why should they? What happens off the boards should stay off the boards.

If you don't like a poster just ignore them on the boards like adults. There is plenty of space for everyone to have fun without bullying

Wise posts from Hayley and TootyFruity, though I think there may be a lot more substance than just a brief fling. By their fruits they are known, and one side seems very friendly, very funny. The other :-P :-P :-P

Cooking well, Hayley, thanks. I am taking her for an afternoon out in East Angular (sort of work related) next month. Have had to ask the records centre (a bit tongue in cheek) to have paramilitaries (edit paramedics) on standby. She will be about 35 weeks then. V exciting - can't wait. :-D Hope baby will be a little star like you - she is bound to be a drama queen like mum :-) ;-)

I have no idea who these 'gangs' and 'thread wreckers' are and I doubt I am alone.

Annx Report 7 Mar 2014 13:27

Wise words Robert. I would change them slightly to 'If you can't say anything nicely don't say anything at all'. That is the trouble I think, too many people react and forget to be respectful and polite. I think Eldrick was a master at keeping to the point and staying polite when attacked for his views. I do miss him, even though he was driven from the boards for having views others didn't like. Being 'offended' seems to be the bully's excuse and way to get what they want these days.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 7 Mar 2014 13:36

I don't think Eldrick was so much driven as left because of the innate stupidity he encountered. You can't debate with people who have a logic by pass.

I find the ignore button very useful. I had to make it myself because GR don't provide one.

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 7 Mar 2014 13:59

I think you will find Eldrick didnt leave but left whilst having his 'Arris shoved through the door ;-)
