This is part of Dizzi's post on 21st October:

Just a minor comment from me Ann, good letter, check para 3 for typo, you have no instead of not.

I think Detective is right, she did say that somewhere.

I could re-draft that letter and make it sound more official and full of big words if you would like.

I can do big words but can barely count. Some you win etc.

The only things I would insist on is a reply within 14 days and for their reply to be copied to Dizzi's GP practice.

You cannot leave the time for them to reply open ended and they ARE required to supply the information to Dizzi's doctor for interpretation if the patient requests it.

Great letter Ann, but you have forgotten to add that they shouldn't mess with our Gwen cos the GR lot will be after them, and it doesn't pay to mess with some of us!

Best of luck Gwen, you are well within your rights to continue the complaint, this response they have given you is patronising and untruthful and someone needs to get on top of the poor treatment patients get.

Take care and don't lose heart

An excellent letter Ann. Just one very small thing - in-patient rather than inpatient might be better. I know either is correct, but I initially read it as 'if I do become impatient again' . . . :-)

Ann, good letter, perhaps a copy of it should also be sent to the Media i/e National Newspapers,They certainly would be Interested in a Story like that to make headlines.**M**.

AnnCardiff Report 27 Nov 2013 14:08

If I was sending it - and I have sent such letters - I send them far and wide - not to just one hospital department but to many as there is less chance of things being swept under the carpet - I also add the fact that a copy has been sent to a solicitor - not that I have sent one to a solicitor yet, but I think it helps to "big" it up :-D

I would send a copy to Cameron and Miliband and to the Minister of Health and maybe the Royal College of Nursing

So have I Ann,also bearded the CEO of the Hospital in his Den,he did,nt like it but tough he had to.Hope this gets sorted and the person concerned is repremanded and the others who told the lies.**M**.

Did you mention the catheter?

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 27 Nov 2013 15:40

When I sent a long letter about my treatment (or lack of!) in day surgery and other departments, a copy was sent to every Head of Department involved. I got a huge, positive, response and an investigation is ongoing. I might add that I tempered the complaints with praise where it was due. It sugared the pill.

It really does pay to let your views be known. How else can they try and better the service they give if patients do not tell them? And....never give up, that is my advice, Dizzi, as I said before.

AnnC. A good letter, just a suggestion I am sure that Dizzi explained her medical condition and physical needs/support in her original letter but do you think it would help if you reiterated these in your letter.

I am just thinking of what I did sometime ago ie.

Tell them
Tell them what you have told them
Tell them again

Dizzi don't give up.

Oh, Dizzie love, you have been subjucated to so much pressure and unhappiness-often due to dreadful treatmeant at the hands of the NHS, plus not knowing how things would turn out for you.You deserve at the very least to get a decent reply to your complaint. It is a disgrace the you have been more or less dismissed and then dread having to go back to that so-called 'caring' hospital if necessary in the future. This should be 'broadcast' in the national papers, at the very least. This digusting behaviour really has to be made known through the whole country, and the guilty parties 'named and shamed. Be of good heart Gwen, many people are on your side. xx

oh Dizzi how awful that yet again youve got nowhere with this hospital.

where do you live Dizzi? do you have a choice of hospitals in your area?maybe you could refuse to go to the same hos again.

ive worked in hospitals for years, and have never heard of such rubbish and have never seen a patient sitting up in a chair for half of the night, the nurse that treated you so badly should be sacked. :-(

we are not all bad,but a few give the rest a bad name.
