Gwen, try not to be scared, you did the right thing by complaining and I hope you will be supported by your family to get the right treatment and care you need. If they won't speak up for you and you get more poor treatment tell 'em you will get the gr posse round to sort them out, that should get some action. |

Dizzi if you are on good terms with your doctor you could ask him/her for advice about whether you should have been in longer for treatment. |

Suzanne I think the reason Dizzi has 'trouble' as you put it with nurses is because some of them have no idea of the problems that people with PD have. Maybe too with so many non UK nurses there is a language and culture problem which doesn't help communication and understanding. This does not excuse the lack of basic care and compassion. |

Well done dizzi, if nothing else you can raise awareness of the ignorance of some nurses about an illness suffered by a lot of people. |

Dizzy, you can well do without the VERY upsetting way you were treated in hospital, because you have enough on your plate as i is. I admire the courage needed to complain about that nurse, knowiing you may be at her mercy for a few days longer, and her 'freinds' knowing that you made a complaint. I too, have had some downright 'nasties' in the past, but, being a coward, I didn't complain. You are not only doing this for yourself, but probably a lot of other patients like me, who dare not open their mouths. Wish I had had your courage back then, it would have saved a lot of agro for me, but a lot of others. |

I must admit that, the way you say it happened in last post, Dizzi, my 96 year old mother in law would have helped you without thinking for a moment it would put her back out. |

I complained about Nursing care once because I was so disgusted it riled me. I couldn't find someone to grumble at so I walked in a side room where chocolates were being shared and there was a general party atmosphere amongst staff whilst my frail old sister in law was under a sheet soiled with unmentionable that was THREE days old, and when the room went quiet because of this upset person who was in their midst I stated my case and then walked out in tears. I cried because it was so against my character to speak up. The next day she (Sis in law) was clean, but the atmosphere was frosty, BUT it was worth it. :-P |

I complained about the poor treatment my lovely Dad received at a local hospital up until the time he died - I went for it big time which ended up in a big enquiry and the ward Sister, the main focus of my complaint was reprimanded |

Glad you stood your ground Gwen, if you will excuse the phrase and hope you will find the strength and energy to take this complaint further. Sometimes people let things go as they are too tired, distressed or busy to continue a complaint but things must be made clear to this 'nurse' that PD patients especially need a certain kind of help and that all patients should be treated with respect and kindness, not fobbed off with rules and regulations or an offhand remark. I wonder if she would like her own mother to be treated in such a way? |
