let your child poo in public?

It seems the newest 'in thing' is to carry a portable potty and if your toddler expresses a wish to poo, you whip it out and sit them down no matter where you are!!!

Full story here: http://www.parentdish.co.uk/kids/would-you-let-your-children-poo-in-public-shop-cafe/

Makes me shudder TBH. i cannot imagine being in a restaurant, enjoying a meal and then being hit with that smell :-(

I definitely wouldn't but would you?

No I definitely wouldn't whatever next. It seems that these Mums these days are too lazy to take their child to the toilet. Will those children grow up thinking it is ok to relieve themselves/whatever in public? Besides anything else if in a cafe/restaurant I would think it would break all sorts of health and safety regulations. :-( :-|

Yuk. I am all for the portable potties but Pllllllleeeeeease use them in the cafe or restaurants toilets. Any child can hang on the couple of minutes it takes to get them in one. I would not wish the smell of my smallest Grandaughter on anyone :-P :-P :-P :-P. :-D

Well, I have not got any children still the age to use a potty in public, but definitely not, if I had one.
Where will it all end, is what I ask myself.

I suppose the 'in' folks will think it a wonderful idea. They will probably see it as the new thing, and carry one around so that their 'handbag' dogs, can use one.
Shudders at the thought.

well one wouldn't want to traumatise them for life by making them have to wait a minute to find the toilet would one!, or indeed to interrupt the poor itty darlings when they're eating or shopping for that oh so essential branded toy, or the latest boob tops for toddlers..... maybe someone could come up with a wheeled bed with integral games console, sliding trap to reveal a potty and a microwave on the back for 'sleep, pooh, play, and eat..on the go, anywhere, anytime, As seen on tv! ' ;-) :-| :-| :-P

Lynda, just cos you drag your commode into Fortnums and make the whole of the The New Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon GAG doesn't mean it is right :-P :-P :-P

what worries me is
how and where would they dispose of it

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 12 Sep 2012 19:17

Can't see the point.
You can get 'pull up' disposable nappies, that you can use if your child is betwixt being clean and not, so if the toilet is further than a widdle and sweetie can't make it, mummy can change the nappy!!!

There's a reason for lids on loos and doors on cubicles....

~Lynda~ Report 12 Sep 2012 19:26

Fortnums never mind me taking it in though, but maybe that's because Uncle owns it ;-)

Presumably the parent trails the pong through the establishment to the loo ensuring nobody misses out on the delight of the bowel movement.

After, of course, wiping the offending bum and not having washed their hands and contaminating every door handle on the way :-0

Suzanne Report 12 Sep 2012 20:45

im all for the portable potty(they do have lids) for when you are toilet training your child, but i would never ever allow a child to use it in a public place and certainly never in a cafe or restaurant. :-)

Sharron Report 12 Sep 2012 21:24

So, you train your baby tp dung out in public and, at what age do you teach them not to dung out in public?

Maybe you don't stop them at any age.

Will everybody have their own commode with them?

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 12 Sep 2012 21:33

Funny you should mention that Sharron

*sits on commode* :-D :-D

I cannot see any justification at all and I hope it's a short lived fad!
