Haven't potties always been portable? :-S

whilst in a bathroom suite showroom to my horror

i heard a little voice saying mummy
there isnt any paper
and the toilet wont flush ;-) ;-)

I've just nearly choked! LOL

Thats why I saw a little child in a layby sitting on a potty,I thought they had just brought it along for convienence not fashion,,,,,at the time I did think a good idea so the child didnt have to clamber in the weeds and nettles,

but no never in a public place fgs!!.

next it will be changing baby down the aisle in a supermarket........

Not acceptable under any circumstance......no-one is allowed to smoke indoors because of 'passive smoking'...soo.....pooing in a potty in a cafe? nooooo :-| and if I saw anyone putting their child on a potty I'd be the one kicking up a stink!!! :-|

I'd say something to be honest and hubby definitely would support me, although he would be standing behind me because I embarrass him..lololol

There is a time and a plase. Layby miles from a loo,fine, supermarket/cafe = no.

I guess the most frequent users will be these mummy's that claim their baby is clean and dry at some stupidly young age '' Hugo was clean AND dry at 7 months....'' because Mummy dangles him over a potty every 10 mins.

Sensible mums have carried a potty since potties were invented, and used them descretely with little Billy in the toilet training phase......by taking Billy and potty into the loo.

When my youngest boy was 2 and going through potty training I went away with both boys and my mum to Spain, he wore a nappy to travell in, and I took his potty, ( I had the biggest handbag ever ) ooo the look on the airport staffs faces aa I went through security was a picture :-D

The potty was used in the hotel room and lavs only but for the 1st day I carried it everwhere, on the second day Booboo asked for his potty and my Mum said to him there for babies and took him to the loo, ( he screamed the place down when I tried) he used the loo and never went on the potty again it was disposed off never went back to England. The moral of the story is Grandma knows best ;-)

Booboo's pitstops are something of legends now, as a few months later the whole family was travelling in a mini bus going away on holiday and Booboo announced whilst we were sat in heavy traffic " need a wee" we couldn't pull over by this time he was dancing Mum again gave him a carton to pee in and he did so nicely......however she passed it to my sister who just opened the window and emptied the contants of the carton in the wind I will never forget the glare from the car driver behind as he sat in red hot sun with his windscreen wipers thrashing about . :-D

But yes, travelling by car perfectly acceptable, we carried a potty in the car and thatw as in the 60s, but always used discretely, never in public. We all know about bodily functions, we don't want to witness them. (or smell them!)

We were in 'spoons in Oxford a few months ago. Found ourselves sitting near a couple of young mums. Food allover the table and floor. Once they were finished they changed a nappy (wet only??) - we didn't notice until too late that they had left the nappy on the floor - it was only because we noticed themlooking back through the window laughing their heads off that we looked back at the table.
The girl who came to clean the table refused to pick it up - good for her!

Oh! The old days! don't you rmember hurrying with a child with 'lumpy pants'.

Shame you didn't notice immediately then you could have shouted "don't forget to take your wet nappy with you" and try (probably in vain) to embarrass them.

We kept ours in Terry nappies until they were ready to ask for the potty/loo with 3 under 3 years I honestly can't remember any traumas dealing with 'accidents'. We did use disposable when we went out but they were really costly then.

Now I could start moaning about nappies and landfill but I won't!!

I might be being a bit contentious here but I wonder if that mans car didn't stink of urine for a long time.
