I agree with Wend - it is twaddle.

Thats great Joy.
I have seen arguments on here and on other sites where people have refered to 'things' said on facebook between people posting. This is not Twaddle , it is perfectly honest.
For the people who are not on FB it can become a bit confusing TBH
I just don't like FB , I don't like beetroot either , but that is just my opinion.
:-D

I don't have a problem with people not liking FB - it's not against the law to not want to join. However a lot of folk act as if anyone who goes on FB is an airhead with nothing better to do than waste time playing games and chatting. As I've said earlier - it is my way to keep up with family and friends and was a great way to keep in touch with my son when he was in East Timor. As long as he was careful we could swap photos and I could keep him up to date with the family news and most importantly he could also see his son who was only little at the time.

I don't judge anyone who uses FB , both sons do and I have used it in the past when older sons moby was cut off , to get in touch .. it was really useful.
My friend uses it to keep in touch with her daughter who is in the Army,
It's like anything else , when it is misused it can become extremely nasty and i have seen this side of FB on more than one occassion.

I would agree with you on that - it can become nasty when it's misused. I'm lucky to not have seen that although I have disagreed with some comments made on the FB Genes page. I don't bring that on here though. It's the family and friend contact that keeps me going back. By putting on one old wedding photo my husband made contact with a whole set of cousins who were delighted to have contact with their Aussie cousins. A definate upside to the site.

Sorry I sounded so 'down' on FB users Sue , I don't mean this about everyone who uses it
I do find it hard to understand (as the OP said) the people who post personal arguments and grievances for the whole world to read .

I love FB. I have my privacy settings set to friends only and I only add friends....what's the biggy? I love seeing what my mates are up to...and tbh...banal stuff is posted all over the www...here included...but hey......that's their choice....I can choose to either respond or ignore.

the beauty of FB is that there are no board police patrolling trying to control what opinions you are allowed to express or what naughty words you may slip through lol

No wonder so many prefer to spend their time there these days x

No apology needed, Neubie - I guess we were all giving our opinion:-)

"FB is allegedly a site which prospective employers look at when selecting a short list. And the photos that some (younger) people put up? (Shudder)"

Which is why I have two fb accounts :-D

I use fb to keep in contact with friends. I also play some of the games on there so have some 'friends', who are friends of friends, as fb friends as we're neighbours on the games. I don't post personal/private stuff on there nor do I post 'making a cup of tea' status updates.
