THAT WAS FOR ALLAN SANDIE, but very interesting that your m.i.l hid her money in food tins,my hubbys gran hid hers under the mattress. :-D

The reason for the sewn up pockets is so that it hangs well on the hanger in the shop. Allegedly.

They may have sewn the pocket up for that reason 20 yrs ago, nowadays ( depending where you buy ) they can be false pockets.

My son bought from a local bespoke tailor about 8 years and the pockets on that were sewn up, he left them that way so the suit looked good on him, but guess who had his car keys, wallet etc in a handbag. :-D
