On wed ( yesterday ) after-noon I was driving in Northwood near Waitrose,
coming out onto main road on a round-a-bout, ( highway code, give way to the right ) so I was in the right, I had to stop 3 qtrs round as car in front stopped, a lady driver ( joke in her case ), came from pulling from kerb on my left and literaly pulled in front of me, next thing she is sticking a finger up at me and obviously swearing, I IGNORED this, and let her go.
But, if she had caught my attention , gestured she was in a hurry, I would have let her go any-way.
SO WHY THE RUDE SIGN PLUS !
It is not important I suppose but she was about 30, child in the back, looked to be Polish or similiar.
WHY HAS MANNERS DIED OUT ?
Our children ( grandchildren in my case ) will eventualy regret this I am sure.
They talk to their parents like dirt, swear at them, respect is gone !

Thankness I am old now, one foot in the grave.
Would not like to have young children now, in these times.

I exspect to get abuse from this as well.

Yes your post angered me....................The lady looked Polish, oh so we all look different depending on where we were born ( never been told l look like British ) and my children/ grandchildren donot talk to me or anyone like dirt they have been brought up with manners !! :-|

Libby Report 2 Feb 2012 15:15

Agree with Mummo. How do you look Polish?. That is the first thing that I noticed about the opening post.

Bad driving is carried out by both genders, all ages and nationalities.

The same goes for bad parenting :-(

just a thought- were you indicating your intention at the time? - jl

AnninGlos Report 2 Feb 2012 15:52

Neither my adult children or my adult and non adult grandchildren talk to anybody like dirt. My two older grandsons in particular are very considerate drivers, allowing people to pull out etc.

I don't think that you can generalise about age or gender, and as to how you know she looked Polish, the mind boggles. She probably thought that you looked like a doddery old fool and she didn't want to be held up by you.

I'm quite amazed at the amount of drivers who are not able to use a roundabout corectly. Where I live, I come out of a small side road onto a large roundabout before I can get onto the road I want, and then very soon after there's another large roundabout to negotiate - some days I am truly gobsmacked at the antics I witness.
Since I see no evidence of L plates, I feel there's absolutely no excuse for such shoddy driving.

And while I'm on my soap box - is indicating becoming a thing of the past, if not, it certainly seems to be going out of fashion!!! :-S

I don´t drive, but from what I´ve observed, most people indicate with one or two fingers after they´ve performed a lethal manouver.

AnninGlos Report 2 Feb 2012 16:26

I'm not sure if people are taught to indicate on roundabouts any more Karen, certainly seems to be a lack of it in this area.

er! 30-somethings can be grandparents!........LOL

remember when the News of the World used to run a feature called Knights of the Road?

when cars had a lot less reliability than they have now?? ;-)

agree there.............indicating seems to be a thing of the past

many drivers pull out first and THEN indicate

I was taught that indicating meant........".I Intend to.......??".....not Im doing it so there!!

bring back the days of winding the window down and waving your arm about!!

Normally a reaction like that comes after being cut up, or thinking the other driver has let them go but pulls out instead.

The race of the woman should not have been brought into the post, it just shows anger towards the womans race rather than her actions.. :-|
