Do you have any mold issues? Mold spores can cause problems too.

UzziAndHerDogs Report 15 Sep 2011 08:06

Well it wasn't the freezer as it happened again last night/this morning. We didn't turn the gas bottles off because by the time OH got in from work and had a coffee (gas kettle) I had gone to sleep, but tonight we will turn them off.
Have checked for mold and there is nothing.
It's got to be something to do with the bedroom as the headache clears when he gets up.

Its it new carpets? bedding? or perhaps it is just tiredness, men can be so stubborn when it comes to seeing a GP, I think you need to nag him into a guilt trip :) Is he eating or drinking anything different?
There is something wrong but what I don't know. Perhaps now he expects a headache at night or on a siesta and so gets one.
He hasn't got a neck problem has he? that can cause headaches and laying down might be the trigger for the headache.
if the headache is enough for him to mention then it should be looked into.
Good Luck in getting him to a GP.

Thanks Dolly, it's not carpets as it's a laminate floor and the bedding is the same as we used to have. I haven't changed the washing powder or anything like that. if turning the gas bottles off doesn't work then I am going to have to nag for a doctor. I hadn't thought about the laying down bit. Will suggest tomorrow when he's on nights that he has his siesta on the settee, not ideal with 2 mutts jumping on him and me around, but if the headache arrives then it's a definate doctor job. Luckily he has a week off from next Wednesday and although we still have a lot to do getting straight I will make sure he gets some rest, just incase it is tiredness. Work in the summer months is mayhem for him working in a bar, some nights he doesn't get home till 2am, and with the move coming straight on top in the hottest August the area has seen in 50years can't help.
I can't help but worry as they are not little headaches but full blown almost migraine heads. Trouble is if I nag he gets edgy and my temper isn't the sweetest. (mind nor is his, volcanos come to mind when we both blow lol ). I may have to resort to the tears and hope for the best.

Uzzi it does not have to be an outside factor.
To me the obvious factor is lying down and my suggestion is he have an immediate review by his doctor as this can be caused by a range of things some of which can be pretty serious.
Honestly DOCTOR TODAY even if you have to hog tie him

Tania you are welcome to try and hog tie my OH, I am at the moment just agreeing with him and eliminating all outside factors when they are done he has no choice but to see a doc. I may seem light hearted about it all but please believe me I am worried, as I said earlier he is the love of my life.
If it was piddling and I wasn't worried this thread wouldn't exist, it's my way of coping with a bull headed OH

Dame for us moving to the living room wouldn't be a problem as both our sofas are sofa beds, I am reluctant to do that at the moment as our dogs are creatures of habit and we have only just got them settled to a night time routine. Mind if need be we will all sleep in the lounge. OH is more important even if he doesn't agree.

Hello Uzzi my old friend.

It's a difficult one this. You seem to have eliminated all the obvious possibilities.

The only thing I can suggest is that you install a recording device midway between your respective heads.

If, when you play it back in the morning, you hear only the sound of you singing in your sleep then I fear that your soonest visit to a vocal tutor may be his only hope !

Of course there is the Obvious answer,"!Stop hitting him on the head with the frying pan" should be ok then.other than that, Is he suffering from Eyestrain? Working in bars at night could cause it. Take care, **M**.

Uzzi
Do you use insect repellant spray?
OH uses it liberally because it has no effect on him, but it gives me a thumping headache.

Caroline Report 15 Sep 2011 15:35

Silly question no doubt but are there heating/air vents nearer to him than you whilst alseep ?
If yes could be one of many things dry air causing headaches;
mold/dirt in vents;
there's no water anyway near vents eg humidifers ???
Sorry no expert.

Not as an expert by any means, but the first things as I thought it through, have already been mentioned. One other thing that comes to mind is paint, by any chance is the wall paint old? How about the house insulation - is there any chance it is asbestos? Does the filter on the heating system need to be changed? Seems to me you need air quality assessment done, would the public health dept, if there is such a dept, send someone out to assess? As has been said I wouldn't be wasting any time in getting a medical check, but also an air quality assessment ASAP.
I know lots of people now take a glass of red wine daily for medical reasons - I know personally if I drank RED wine I would have a raging headache, but white wine no problem. Something to do with the type of grapes. Does he have a glass of red wine before bed?
One last thought - where is the electrical supply box located outside, in relation to the walls of the bedroom. Are there hydroelectric wire towers nearby outside?
Good luck,
mary

lol @ Robin and Merlin trust me I stopped hitting him with the frying pan when I realised he could and would hit harder.
C no ducts nearby and Wisechild no repellents used.

I am tempted to put the hammock up and let him sleep outside

:-D

Uzzi

Although you said you are using the same bedding, have you got a new/different bed since you moved?

If you have and it's firmer/softer than he's used to it could cause posture problems when sleeping which could cause him to get these headaches.

Hope you find out what's causing it really soon, as it's horrible when you wake up during the night with a pounding headache! :-(

Mayfield Report 15 Sep 2011 19:00

Just a thought Uzzi,

I used to suffer with sinusitis, then it suddenly stopped for some reason, I can only assume it was something I came into contact during the day which triggered it that had changed.

I did find that lying flat made the headaches much worse, so used to have two large pillows in bed, that helped a lot.

Doesn't solve your problem I know but if you are sure you have excluded fridges, water heaters etc, it's worth a try to see if it helps.

All the best,
Mayfield.

Is he drinking enough water?

sometimes being dehydrated can cause headaches ....... both myself and my daughter can get full blown headaches if we have been a little careless. Sometimes, even OH gets them.

Is it perhaps a tension headache ..... can feel a bit like a migraine one, but if you find the pressure points and press down then release, the headache is eased. Pressure points are at the nape of the neck, behind the ears, and near the temples.

If that turns out to be it ..... then check about stress, OR if his neck is at a "funny" angle during the night.

I have to have a flattish firm pillow, with a softer one on top ..... then I can crunch the softer one into the angle of my neck when sleeping, otherwise I get a tension headache.
