Hello dear Susanwithnumbers

Just thought I'd answer your question too:-)

I stay around for the friendships Ive made, never in my wildest dreams did I think that it was possible to form a friendship with someone over the internet - and gagged when my brother met and married his OH online, they are still happily married!!

As for the so called wum's, I couldn't give two hoots about, as in real life - I can't be bothered!!

I'm not an experienced researcher, and the TTF boards have helped/taught me a lot, and that's just by reading! Those people that help are amazing - thank you, to all of you!!

I have also had some help from my dear friends on the Aussie thread both personally and in the family history way - for that I'm in their debt, I love you all!!

We also lost a very dear friend on that thread, Allison. So if it wasn't for these boards - I wouldn't have made that friendship.

Sorry Susan, you did ask, lol!!! You're kinda alright yourself xx

Hi Carole - I still think often of our lovely Allison. What a lasting legacy she left with us - "stay beautiful".

Now I don't usually use the word WUM as mentioned on here , but I had to Google it, and found this.:-

A WUM is a wind up merchant and a TROLL is someone who will deliberately post to provocative thread in hope of getting people to respond (and they usually do ) !!

So TROLL is new to me..

Not a lot of people know that .....LOL

Hi to **Ann** back there & to Stray....~~~~~~~~

Allan I love blackberries ...

There used to be a funny thread about winding up people being fun, but being a WUM and being a troll, they are two different beings, and one can tell the difference easily :-)

I've been here for a long time ( and if I hadn't had a break for a few months back in 2005 I'd still be getting a year for the original price I suppose ) .....anyway , I stay for a few reasons , partly out of habit ( this was the first site I ever posted on ) , mostly because there are loads of lovely people on here and I wouldn't want to lose them by leaving and lastly in the ever decreasing hope that I'll get a few more family tree contacts ....lol

After a while though...we can suss out the wums and trolls and take a back seat.( sometimes an amusing experience, but also a lesson in humanity )

I admit that if one is a newby and they get upset by the trolling wums, they will get extremely upset......I know this for a fact.....I may not have said much in the past but I have had my moments of upsetedness ( Ok I know there is no such word :-)))))....but most of it is due to my own stupidity, I believe......A victim is a victim by their own naivety....Only in my opinion of course.

Ooh, Susanwithnumbers, I, once upon a time, had many a moment of upsetedness; but no longer do I choose to be a victim :-)

Good for you Joy. :-)))

I believe that we are in charge of our own feelings. Never should we allow others to make us feel the way they want us to.....If we do....we are to blame....not them!
